Mum in tears as kind Aldi shopper pays for her groceries after her card was declined
A MUM was left in tears after a kind shopper offered to pay for her groceries when her card unexpectedly declined at the checkout.
The Australian mum was shopping at her local Aldi supermarket when the incident occurred, leaving her without nappies for her young child.
The gobsmacked woman explained that the cashier had left off some items, including nappies, when she paid for her "medium shop".
But when she tried to scan them through in a second transaction, the mum's card declined, leaving her no choice but to leave the items behind.
That was until the woman queuing behind her stepped in and offered to pay for the extra items so that the mum and child didn't have to go without.
“A shout out to the kind-hearted lady at Aldi Maribrynong today, thank you again,” the eternally grateful woman wrote online.
“I did a medium shop today without the kids and paid by card.
“The cashier didn’t see the nappies at the end of the shop and so scanned them through as a second transaction.”
She explained the her card had declined after trying "three times".
"Then said to the cashier, no worries I will have to come back another day,” the mum explained.
It was at this point that the customer standing behind her told the cashier that she would pay for the nappies for the woman’s young child who she had never met.
The mum went on to say that the woman piped up in a cheery tone saying: “I'll pay for them! Here you go!”
The shell-shocked mum thanked the kind-hearted stranger for the “surprise gesture” and left the store.
But it was only when the grateful mum left the store that she became overwhelmed with emotion.
“As I walked out the front door, I burst into tears, I think for the surprise gesture and the fact that she wanted to make sure my child would have nappies when I got home.”

The incredible act has inspired the mum to pay it forward in the future.
