People are making quiches in their slow cookers – and the secret is cottage cheese
WITH Brits becoming more adventurous in the kitchen due to the lockdown, they’re trying their hand at classic recipes at home.
One woman has shared the simple way she makes a crust-less quiche in a slow cooker – and the secret is cottage cheese.

If you felt like whipping up a quiche over the bank holiday weekend, one woman has shared her step-by-step method and recipe, and it couldn’t be easier.
She shared a snap of her creation to Facebook group UK Slow Cooker recipes, tried and tested!, where it’s been liked dozens of times.
The budding chef said: “Crustless quiche slow cooker way.”
Aside from the usual ingredients of eggs and grated cheese, she revealed that she added a tub of cottage cheese in as well.
Sharing her method, firstly she advised people to brown the bacon, and get a large bowl and tea towel ready.
She said: “Mixed the eggs and cottage cheese together then pour into the bowl with the ingredients.
“Mix together then put into flan or cake tin with liner.
“I put the 40 grams of cheese on the top, put into slow cooker.
Crustless quiche recipe
- 4 eggs
- 1 tub of low fat cottage cheese about 250g
- Chopped up mixed peppers
- Chopped onion
- Chopped up ham
- Chopped up bacon
- Chestnut mushrooms
- 40 grams low fat cheese
“I put my on low as I was working in the morning. [sic]
“Make sure you put a tea towel under the lid when cooking the flan.”
She cooked hers on low heat or around six hours, before tucking it.
Her post has racked up dozens of comments, as people were inspired to make their own version for dinner.
One person said: “It looks lovely.”
Another wrote: “I'm going to try this next week.”
A third said: “Going to try this today.”
While another added: “Mmm looks lush.”
