STORY mfg. Gives a Look Inside Its Dye-House and Atelier in New Video
After revealing its Spring/Summer 2021 collection earlier this Summer, U.K.-based label STORY mfg. has released a new video showing the production process of some of its garments. The short film was captured during the production of the label’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection at the The Colours Of Nature dye-house and atelier in Auroville, India.
Launching the video, which is the first installment of a planned series of films going behind-the-scenes at STORY mfg., co-founders Katy and Saeed Al-Rubeyi explained the decision to show the production process, “There are lots of reasons why we want to be open and honest. We like you to see our hard work, understand how our products are made and why it’s so important to care about the way things are done and how people are treated. We also really dislike how this industry focuses on designers and all the visible people at the top of companies while ignoring everyone else. When people write about our company they mainly focus on us and we aren’t comfortable with that — so we are taking control of the narrative.”
The video itself shows the various processes involved in the production of a STORY mfg. collection. This includes everything from hand-carving motifs and necklaces to the sewing and natural dyeing of the fabrics for the collection.
Take a look at the film above, and keep an eye out for more releases from STORY mfg. in the near future.
