Woman reveals how to clean hair straighteners in minutes using £1.99 item & they look as good as new

A WOMAN has revealed her £1.99 tip for cleaning hair straighteners – and they look as good as new.

Cleaning fanatic Mrs D, from Chorley, Lancs, removes built up residue from straighteners and curling tongs in minutes using her simple hack.

She uses Care's Surgical Spirit, which you can buy from LLoyds Pharmacy for £1.99, and a cotton wool bud to clean them up.

Posting on Instagram, she said: "Make sure you have turned and unplugged your hair straighteners or curling tongs, dab a little of either Surgically Spirits or Rubbing Alcohol and wipe over them.

"Make sure you get into all the nook and crannies and make sure you wipe over the ceramic plate too.

"My GHD straighteners are now 10 years old, I've always cleaned them this way every few months and they look and work like new. Happy Cleaning".
