Alex Beresford, 40, has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts about speculation that he is tipped to take part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. The Good Morning Britain star and his fellow ITV weather presenter Laura Tobin, 39, are reportedly at the top of the list of celebrities that BBC bosses want to sign up for 2021.
After spotting the rumours, Alex cheekily asked whether he needs to work on his dance skills.
He penned in view of his 255,000 followers this morning: “Do I need to brush up on my 2 step and shuffle?”
Later on, the meteorologist addressed the reports again after his GMB co-star Laura shared her thoughts on the micro-blogging site.
Laura opted to share several screenshots of an article detailing the news before calling out her colleague by writing: “Bring it on @alexberesfordTV I’ve seen your dancing #Strictly #Rainboffin?”

Alex retweeted Laura’s post and added: “Sounds like a storm in a teacup,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.
Fans took to the comments section of the ITV stars’ posts to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: “You would be a great Strictly contest.”(sic)
Another added: “Definitely…look forward to watching you shake & glide across the strickly floor.”(sic)
A third told Alex: “You so strictly should…”
A fourth suggested Alex and Laura should form a team on the programme with GMB host Ben Shephard, adding: “You should do a trio dance with Ben.”
It comes after an insider claimed Strictly would love to sign up one or both of the ITV presenters.
A source told The Sun: “Strictly bosses like having an ITV daytime star as they help with audience figures, being really well-known.

“Viewers wake up to them every day. Laura and Alex are well-liked and would make good signings.
“It is still early in the process but both their names are in the mix.”
Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Strictly for comment.
Alex previously appeared on Dancing on Ice in 2018.
The star competed with professional skater Brianne Delcourt before being eliminated eighth.
Alex recently hit the headlines following his row with former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, as they disagreed about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers stormed off the set after the duo clashed over his disbelief of the Duchess of Sussex’s claims before he made the decision to quit the show.
Speaking of Piers’ GMB exit, Alex, who had defended Meghan in the argument, said on social media: “Piers’ departure sincerely wasn’t the conclusion I was hoping for.
“Over the last few years, Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky on-air relationship.
“We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning and from our very public conversations on Twitter, we both knew how strongly our opinions differed on the treatment of Harry and Meghan pre and post the Oprah interview that has split the world.”
