Bill Bailey: Strictly star’s near-miss flashing ‘incident’ as he talks ‘pressure’ with Oti

Strictly: Zoe Ball reveals Bill Bailey as latest contestant

Bill Bailey, 55, is partnered with Oti Mabuse, 30, on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing 2020. The comedian and actor has opened up about his time on the BBC series as he admitted to losing weight which nearly resulted in disaster.

Bill has revealed that inches have dropped from his waist as the Strictly star has lost a stone and a half during the competition.

The comic admitted his clothes are practically falling off him but he almost suffered a flashing incident while filming.

“I’ve certainly lost weight — a lot of clothes feel baggy,” Bill explained.

“I went to do some filming where I had to go paddleboarding. I put on shorts that I wear normally.”

He continued: “I put the microphone in my pocket and my shorts started falling down around my knees.

“I’m like, ‘What’s happened? This is not right.’ It almost caused an incident.”

Despite the benefits of losing weight during the show, Bill revealed he is beginning to feel the “pressure”.

The comic is currently up against HRVY, 21, Jamie Laing, 32, JJ Chalmers, 33, Ranvir Singh, 43, and Maisie Smith, 19, to be crowned the Strictly champion.

The Strictly star revealed that many of his friends have been placing bets on him lifting the Glitterball Trophy.

“It is pressure. We’re getting to the sharp-end now so everyone’s putting in great dances, Bill continued to The Sun.

“The competition is really hotting up. There has been quite some betting going on. It’s mainly my friends.”

Bill is leading the charge to victory as the comic is favourite to win the Glitterball Trophy as his chances stand at 8/11.

Meanwhile, the comedian is set to perform his and partner Oti’s routine to the dramatic theme tune from The Phantom Of The Opera for Musicals Week.

Bill has since suggested he “could lose a kneecap” as his leg kicks out at a “peculiar angle”.

The funnyman said: “But for safety’s sake you have to be in perfect sync and make sure you have your legs apart because if you’re in the wrong place, you might end up getting thwacked!

“One wrong step and you might lose a kneecap.

“I myself experienced this pain during training although it wasn’t entirely my fault. Well, that’s my excuse anyway,” Bill quipped following the mishap.

Elsewhere, the star took the opportunity to thank his wife for ensuring that he and Oti have good meals to keep them going during training.

Speaking on Strictly’s spin-off show It Takes Two, host Rylan Clark-Neal said: “Your lovely wife has been cooking for the pair of you.

“Some of the supplies being Japanese Burgers, a Chicken, Chilli and Tortilla Soup and Coriander Marinated Grilled Salmon.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight on BBC One at 7.25pm.
