Bradley Walsh will host a celebrity special of The Chase tonight which sees Ann Widdecombe, Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes and Jimmy Carr go against the chaser to win money for their individual charities. But what has Bradley said of his health?

Bradley has opened up his heath as he has been warned he was at risk of dying from heart disease.

Talking to The Sun, Bradley spoke of how he felt like a “time bomb”.

Bradley said: “I was a time bomb. I produce too much cholesterol.

“It’s a silent killer. My heart guy said, ‘Look, Brad, you need to get fit’.”

Bradley went on to talk about how his father had died of the same condition, aged 59.

He continued: “I had a hang-up because my father, Daniel, died at the age of 59.

“I had it in the back of my mind that I just had to get past my dad’s age.”

Bradley, who turned 60 last month, went on to say: “So turning 60 was a bit of milestone.

“I was 33 when he passed away. I’d just done the Royal Variety Show performance which helped launch my career, but my dad died from heart failure two weeks after that and never got to see it.”

Bradley revealed he gets tested regularly as the condition can be hereditary.

“Once you know it’s hereditary, you start having regular tests. Of course, it’s a concern.

“Every couple of years, I go and have a full medical at the Loughton Cardiac Clinic (in Essex).

“I go on the treadmill, and then I have a carotid artery test which is a total game-changer.”

Later in the interview, Bradley spoke of how when lockdown hit, he realised he needed to change up his lifestyle.

Bradley added: “And this was literally just prior to lockdown.

“Then, lockdown hit. I got on the scales and saw I’d hit 14st 9lbs, the heaviest I’ve ever been. I really was quite big.

“I thought, ‘Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this’.

“I decided to get consciously stuck in. So, touch wood, I will be OK.”

Bradley opened up on putting weight on This Morning last month ahead of his milestone birthday.

Talking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Bradley said: “Next time you see me in real life, I’ve actually put a stone on.

“I hope someone comes up with some tips… I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been.

“I actually need to lose some weight a bit lively, I really do.”
