She bowed out of Dancing on Ice on Tuesday due to injury, and now Denise Van Outen has opened up about the true extent of her injury and how it left her feeling.

The actress, who has been replaced by Olympian Amy Tinkler, dislocated her shoulder and suffered with three bone fractures, but even despite her injuries, the blonde beauty still performed her first live skate.

Speaking to The Sun, the 46 year old said: "I just wanted to get on with the show. I know my body and I've had previous injuries and it just never felt quite right.

"We had to completely re-choreograph our entire routine, which took out all my big lifts that I'd been working on for three months.

"I had a nice big move almost like splits on the ice, which was my ultimate goal.

"But I couldn't do any of it. I was literally clinging on to Matt for dear life just to get through the show. But I think if you look at any of the pictures, you can see that I was in terrible pain," Denise divulged.

The performer went on to explain her injury and why she was in so much pain as a result of it.

"I can't rotate my arm or move it too much. I'm very limited with movement, and there was only ever going to be so much i could do on the ice.

"With an injury like this it is too dangerous to go back on. I didn't want to end up on a surgeon's table with pins.

"I obviously didn't know at the time that it was fractured as well, but now it all makes sense because of the level of pain."

She continued: "I came off after the show and vomited, and I nearly passed out because I was in so much pain.

"At the same time it was still good to be part of it. It's just such a shame. I would love to have carried on. I'll never know what I'd be capable of doing."

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, who got her husband to dye her hair, was so committed to the competition that she moved in skating partner Matt Evers into her home.

The skater stayed at Denise's with her and her partner Eddie and daughter Betsy for the duration of the competition.
