Loose Women panelist Denise Welch, 62, has told fans she is “gutted” to learn that her colleague Andrea McLean is leaving their lunchtime show. The actress took to Twitter to share her thoughts after the host announced her news live on television yesterday.

Posting a clip from Monday’s Loose Women, Denise informed her 488,500 followers: “I’m mortified!!!”

“I taught her how to leave Snow White behind and embrace her naughty side!!!

“Gutted,” she added.

Through tears, Andrea told her fellow co-stars and viewers at home of her departure.

“I didn’t think I was going to cry,” the emotional 51-year-old admitted as she tried to get her words out.

“I’m going to be leaving Loose Women – oh my goodness I didn’t mean to cry – cause I want to be brave, I really want to.

“All the incredible feedback I got from my book, and the support I was able to give them, I want to bring it to life,” the author said.

The former weather presenter, who joined the cast of the show back in 2007, said it was a “really big decision” to quit, but she wanted to try something new after penning self help book and blog This Girl Is On Fire.

“It was a really big decision to jump and see if I fall or fly and I just thought, I will never know unless I try,” Andrea added.

“It will be a big loss,” one follower wrote in the comments section of Denise’s post.

Sharing a similar thought, another added: “You will be missed.”

“Good luck Andrea. A new chapter. Every success,” a third follower remarked, wishing the TV star a bright future.
