Ethan Hawke: The Hollywood Legend Is Worth More Than You Think

Ethan Hawke is one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood, who’s been starring in films since the 1980s. One of his first big breakout roles was in 1985’s Dead Poets Society starring Robin Williams, and most recently, he was nominated for Best Actor in a Miniseries at the 2021 Golden Globes for his role in The Good Lord Bird (via TIME). He’s also been nominated four times at the Academy Awards; twice in the Best Supporting Actor category and two times for Best Adapted Screenplay for Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy.

With so many stellar roles and serious accolades under his belt, it’s no wonder Hawke has a stunning $55 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth. That’s because Hawke is constantly working, with his IMDb filmography showing that he appears in multiple films and TV projects a year. Each of those projects likely earns him millions of dollars; one of his highest paid projects was 2001’s Training Day with Denzel Washington, which also earned him one of those Oscar nominations.

Hawke knows just what projects to pick

Not only does he work hard, picking good projects along the way, but Ethan Hawke is very smart with his money. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the actor decided to take a pay cut when starring in 2013’s The Purge in exchange for some of the movie’s profits instead. While the initial reason was to help out his best friend, Jason Blum, who was producing the film, the gamble paid off, earning Hawke millions.

The fact that he was willing to help out a friend could also be why so many people want to work with Hawke. He’s a good guy with serious talent, and he’ll soon be joining the biggest franchise in Hollywood right now — the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to ComicBook.com, Hawke is about to start filming the Disney+ series Moon Knight with Star Wars alum Oscar Isaac as the lead. The series, based off of the Marvel comic, is expected to premiere in 2022 on the streaming platform. So, Hawke’s already got some big projects for next year, and you can only expect more once he is in the MCU.
