Fern Britton, 63, who was previously married to her former co-presenter Phil Vickery, has opened up in a cryptic admission about how it is easier to forgive your enemies than your “friends”. The best-selling author expressed her “thoughts for the day” in view of her 76,000 Twitter followers.
It’s easier to forgive your enemies
It comes after Fern similarly opened up about her feelings of “betrayal” earlier this week.
The TV star shared her thoughts after one social media user posted a heartfelt piece of writing which she came across.
This morning she wrote: “Thought for the day: it’s easier to forgive your enemies than it is to forgive your friends.”
It wasn’t long before many fans rushed to comment who could seemingly relate to Fern’s words.
One fan wrote: “I’ve learnt that true friends are few & very precious. Especially just lately they’ve held my hand as I’ve walked through hell.
“Most others are acquaintances & some even unhealthy habits. It’s been easy to see which is which x.”
Another commented: “Forgiveness is not easy and can take some time to do, but we must forgive if we are ever to have true peace.
“Trusting them again is a different matter altogether!”
“I guess that is right. You have no/low expectations of enemies so are never disappointed,” one fan replied.
Fern separated from her husband Phil, who she shares her 19-year-old daughter Winnie with, after 20 years of marriage in January.
The star cryptically commented on a heartfelt post last week which went into detail about establishing strong relationships and overcoming things after being “betrayed”.
The writer shared the post onto her following after telling her Twitter how the words fitted “perfectly”.

The message read: “In life, you will fall out with people that you never thought you would.
“Get betrayed by people you trusted with all of your heart. Get used by people you would do anything for. But life also has a beautiful side to it.”
They continued: “You will get loved by someone you never thought you would have.
“Form new friendships with people that will establish more meaningful and stronger relationships.
“And overcome things you never thought you would get over.”
The letter finished with: “We all have chapters that end with people at some point in life.
“But take pride in knowing that the very best part of your book is still being written.”
After Fern commented cryptically: “This fits so perfectly xxx,” she then shared the post onto her profile.
“Thank you for posting this @georginabelcher. Whoever wrote this KNOWS! Xx.”
