Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon Reveals How the Pandemic Is Affecting Her Career

Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon is getting candid about her feelings amid the pandemic.

The 31-year-old South Korean idol spoke openly during an Instagram Live over the weekend about her sadness and frustration.

“I’ve started a live broadcast to talk with those who have been diligently practicing social distancing,” she explained, via Soompi on Tuesday (September 1).

“COVID-19 has gotten so serious that I think the [current Level 2] social distancing rules have become Level 2.5 distancing. I don’t think we’re at Level 3 yet, but I honestly think we should consider them the same thing.”

“This [pandemic] isn’t getting any better, and it’s such a serious matter. There are so many people who are sick. Isn’t this affecting our daily lives? I think we’re beginning to fall apart. So I really hope everyone practices social distancing,” she went on to say.

“I think that as the COVID-19 pandemic worsens, we have less and less that we can do. Isn’t that really annoying?”

She revealed that she has spent her time at home watching dramas and movies, making bracelets and playing with her dog Zero.

“Honestly, aren’t we all the same? We practice social distancing, we’re bored at home, we can feel lethargic, and we miss being with people. In a world that is already lonely without the COVID-19 pandemic, now we have to socially distance…people may think that staying at home is nice for me since I’m a homebody, but above all, I’m a singer, so I also want to sing and perform at concerts,” she said.

“Once I think the pandemic is starting to go away, it just gets worse. It’s true that I’m starting to get exhausted.”

She also revealed how this is now affecting her career.

“I think working people, not just me, are feeling a sense of loss and emptiness. I feel like I’ve lost my job now that I can’t perform. I really almost started crying just now. I’ll be waiting for the day I can meet everyone again.”

A superstar K-pop girl group recently opened up about how they’ve been working on their album in quarantine.
