Harry and Meghan's The Sussexes "Rift" with the Royal Family Is a "Gaping Cavern" After Recent Wreath Drama
Unfortunate update from veteran royal reporter Katie Nicholl: it looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rift with the royal family has widened. Nicholl tells OK! Magazine (via The Daily Mail) that the couple “do things their own way whatever the cost, while the Firm refuses to bend the rules,” and brings up their visit to a Los Angeles Cemetery on Remembrance Day with photographer Lee Morgan as an example.
Apparently, this visit (which came after Prince Harry’s request for the royals to lay a Remembrance Day wreath on his behalf was denied) further strained the relationship, with Nicholl explaining “There is such a gaping cavern now and exercises like this only serve to widen that gap rather than heal the rift.”
She added that “Harry and Meghan do things very differently to the royal family and to me it shows how determined they are to do things their own way whatever the cost.”
Harry was said to be “deeply saddened” by the royal family’s decision not to lay a wreath on his behalf, and according to The Sunday Times his request was turned down by courtiers because he doesn’t represent the royals in an official capacity anymore. Honestly pretty lame of them considering Harry’s a member of the family who served.
