Jameela Jamil Defends Herself After Accused of Shaming Women for Getting Plastic Surgery
The ‘Good Place’ actress is quick to respond to the criticisms, claiming feminism doesn’t mean ‘women should get away with everything because they’re women.’
AceShowbiz –Jameela Jamil insists women should be allowed to criticise other women after coming under fire for “shaming” fellow stars.
“The Good Place” actress has never been afraid to speak her mind, and has frequently called out famous faces including the Kardashian sisters for promoting diet products in exchange for payment on their social media pages.
On Monday, April 20, 2020 night, the actress hit back at a critic who blasted her for “shaming other women,” after she retweeted a clip of herself talking to Trevor Noah on “The Daily Show” from back in September.
In the clip, Jameela discussed the changes social media companies have put in place to protect young users from seeing advertising for weight-loss products, and implied people who promote the products digitally alter their bodies in a bid to boost sales.
She captioned the post, “Your photoshopped, surgically enhanced flat tummy, f**k off.”
Underneath the video clip, one follower sarcastically responded, “I love when feminists shame other women. It’s the best,” to which the star fired back, saying, “So women should get away with everything because they’re women? With lying to women?”
“With selling dangerous products to women? To making women feel bad about themselves?” she continued. “Men criticize other bad men all the time and aren’t accused of being anti-male. Mollycoddling isn’t feminism.”
