Louise Redknapp has honestly shared her regrets over the end of her lengthy marriage to Jamie Redknapp.

Louise, 46, and former footballer Jamie, 47, split in 2017 after 19 years of marriage.

The shock split came months after Louise starred on Strictly Come Dancing and reached the finals with her professional dancing partner Kevin Clifton.

Louise and Jamie have sons Charley, 16, and Beau, 12.

Singer Louise has now opened up on the split in a new interview, honestly saying she “wishes she'd tried’ to save the marriage.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine, she said of the break-up: "I didn't want to lose too much of a good feeling.

"Before anyone could stop me, I just ran as fast as the wind would take me. I never once looked behind, until maybe too late.

“I should have paused and thought about other people and had just a bit more time to work out why I felt I couldn’t do it any more.”

Louise was asked if she could have saved her marriage, to which she said: “I wish I’d tried. I want to say to anyone thinking of running, ‘Just slow down. Don’t run.’

“Because once you run too fast, you can’t make up the ground you’ve lost. Stop, say what you need, say what you think, don’t be afraid to say what’s really going on. You don’t have to be quiet.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Louise also heartbreakingly revealed she considered taking her own life following her split from Jamie.

She said: “I would be standing in Central London and would wonder whether it would be easier for a bus to take me out.

“All it would take was for me to step out at the wrong moment and it would be over.”

When asked if she seriously considered taking her own life, she confessed: “I think so, for a split second.

“I was like, ‘I would really like this to all go away. But I’ve got two little men who need me more than anything’.

“That’s where my selfishness stops. They’re the only thing that kept me going. Them and my mum.”

Jamie has since gone on to date Swedish model Frida Andersson-Lourie, while Louise has stayed single.
