Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Taking Time Off for "Real Quality Time" When Baby Arrives
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are gearing up for the arrival of their baby daughter this summer (!!!!) and the couple are reportedly going to take a chunk of time off from work after her birth. Otherwise known as maternity and paternity leave!
Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl reports that Meghan and Harry plan to bond as a family of four after the arrival of their daughter, with a friend of the couple saying “They will both take some proper time off. It will be the summer and they want to make sure they both take their leave so they have some real quality time together once the baby arrives.”

Nicholl also notes that the baby’s due date could potentially impact Harry’s plans to return to the United Kingdom for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue at Kensington Palace. Sources say Harry is “determine” to be by Prince William’s side for the event, but that it all depends on when his daughter is born—not to mention travel restrictions due to the pandemic.
This update comes amid reports that Meghan is planning a home birth at her and Harry’s estate in Montecito. “Meghan’s plan was to have a home birth with Archie, but you know what they say about the best-laid plans,” a source tells Page Six. “In the end, her doctors advised her to go to hospital and all she was interested in was about delivering Archie safely. But she has a beautiful home in California; it’s a beautiful setting to give birth to her baby girl.”
