Author Omid Scobie has claimed Meghan Markle contacted royal staff to ask them to "set the record straight" after conjecture surrounding an argument with Kate Middleton.
It was reported that Meghan made Kate cry after an argument about the flower girls dresses at her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
However, during her bombshell tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, said it was actually the opposite and she was the one left in tears by Kate.
She explained she had forgiven the Duchess of Cambridge since, but found it difficult to cope with the reports that were coming out about her.

Now, the author of Finding Freedom – a biography about Harry and Meghan – Omid Scobie, has claimed Meghan had in fact got in touch with royal staff to help put a stop to the allegations about her.
Writing in Harpers Bazaar, he said Meghan's request was denied, and palace aides insisted Kate should not be dragged into "idle gossip".
He claims Meghan's email read: "Well, if we're just throwing any statement out there now, then perhaps KP can finally set the record straight about me [not making Kate cry]."
While speaking during her interview with Oprah, Meghan explained: "What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do, but that happened to me."

In 2020, it was claimed the rift between Meghan and Kate, 39, came when the pair discussed whether or not the bridesmaids should wear tights or not.
According to these reports, Meghan didn't agree they shouldn't wear tights, but Kate, who wanted to stick to royal protocol, said they should.
A source told Tatler magazine: "It was a hot day and apparently there was a row over whether the bridesmaids should wear tights or not.

"Kate, following protocol, felt that they should. Meghan didn't want them to."
However, since then, it was claimed the reported disagreement was about Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress not fitting.
A separate source spoke to The Telegraph and explained: "Kate had only just given birth to her third child, Prince Louis – and was feeling quite emotional."
