Melissa Rycroft Was Turned Down For This Show Twice
Melissa Rycroft proved she was addictively watchable as a contestant on Jason Mesnick’s season of The Bachelor (via CNN). The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader also competed and won Dancing With the Stars (via The Hollywood Reporter). So, the Texas native must have a fan base. And yet, the reality star says there is a show that has turned her down — twice. According to Us Weekly, Rycroft was considered for Real Housewives of Dallas, but the Bravo franchise said “no” to her involvement on more than one occasion.
During a Q&A on her Instagram Story, the mom of three — according to People, she shares sons Cayson and Beckett and daughter Ava with her husband Tye Strickland — noted about appearing on RHOD, “I’ve been interviewed and turned down twice … I am so NOT Housewife material!”
Why Melissa Rycroft may not be a good fit for RHOD
Apparently, getting on a Real Housewives show is no easy process, with Women’s Health revealing all cast members send in audition tapes to be considered.
Current RHOD cast members include Brandi Redmond, D’Andra Simmons, Kameron Westcott, Tiffany Moon, Jennifer Davis Long, Kary Brittingham, and Stephanie Hollman (via Bravo). It’s worth noting that according to Bustle, friends of cast members are preferred when new ladies are considered for the show.
But just because you’re a bold-face name — or a friend of one— doesn’t mean a green lit casting, with Page Six reporting plenty of other celebrities have been overlooked for Real Housewives, including Tori Spelling.
But maybe that’s a good thing — because as a casting agent told the outlet, “All the Housewives are hard to cast. We are lucky if we interview six to ten people a season. Nobody with integrity is going to go on a reality show like that where you are flaunting your lifestyle and flashing cash.” Ouch. Maybe Rycroft should count her blessings she has never moved forward in the casting process on RHOD.
