Post Malone Sued Over ‘Circles’ Songwriting Credit, Files Countersuit
Post Malone has filed a countersuit against Tyler Armes, who sued the rapper saying he played a key role in the first session that produced the hit single “Circles.”
The songwriter filed his federal lawsuit in California on Tuesday saying that he deserves credit for his contribution to the track, which topped the Billboard 100 chart last November.
“It is an age-old story in the music business that when a song earns the type of runaway success that ‘Circles’ has garnered, and individuals will come out of the woodwork falsely claim to take credit for the song, and demand unwarranted and unearned windfall profits from the song,” Malone said in the countersuit filed in New York the same day.
Armes’ lawyer Allison Hart said it is very disappointing that Malone and his team did not provide Armes with co-writing credit.
