Bindi Irwin expecting a baby girl, compares fetus to tortoise hatchling

Crikey! The next Wildlife Warrior is going to be a girl.

Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell revealed Tuesday that they are expecting a daughter — and they announced the news with the help of a resident from the Irwin family zoo.

The reality star, 22, shared a photo of herself cuddling an Aldabra tortoise while her beaming husband, 23, held up a sonogram photo of their baby.

“Baby girl, you are our world. ❤️ Our beautiful daughter is now about the same size as a hatchling Aldabra tortoise and is as healthy as can be. We can’t wait for her arrival next year,” she wrote alongside the sweet snap.

Meanwhile, Powell, who is a retired professional wakeboarder, shared the same photo writing: “Our little girl and my beautiful wife are my entire world. I’m so excited to meet our daughter when she’s born next year and to see the incredible person she will grow up to be❤️”

The couple announced the pregnancy last month comparing the fetus size at the time to a hummingbird.

“Baby Wildlife Warrior is about the size of a hummingbird now! We can’t wait to teach our little one about the importance of protecting our planet and the beauty of the wildlife and wild places we love so much,” Irwin wrote.

Irwin, the daughter of late TV personality Steve “Crocodile Hunter” Irwin, and Powell wed in March at the Irwins’ Australia Zoo — where members and donors are dubbed Wildlife Warriors — in a scaled down ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic.
