Brainbox jockey Charlotte Jones has first-class science degree but 'must have screw loose to ride Jumps', says trainer
CHARLOTTE JONES is the brainbox jockey with a first-class science degree who dazzled fans with a stunning win.
Jones, 24, surged clear on 9-1 shot The Steward and at one point was more than 30 lengths ahead of her rivals in a Newcastle race.
And they never really got much closer to the James Moffatt-trainer superstar, whose triumph set social media alight.

Yet, for all her brains and skill in the saddle, Moffatt reckons his star jockey 'must have a screw loose to want to ride over Jumps'.
Not that punters would care.
Jones' win on The Steward coupled with victory on 50-1 shot Dagian on the same day led to a monster 509-1 double.
Moffatt said Jones told him exactly how she was going to ride the horses – and the tactics proved perfect.
But he still thinks she must be mad to want to go over obstacles.
Moffatt told SunSport: "She's highly intelligent but must have a screw loose to want to ride over Jumps!
"The big double at Newcastle was a planned raid. We had two horses that needed a final workout, but floods, snow and frost had brought us to a standstill.

FRIDAY NIGHT POKER: Play TONIGHT at 8pm to win a share of $5,500
"Our two gallops were far too hard to use, so I bought 20 tonnes of wood fibre to pull off what we called Operation Charlotte after she'd told us how she'd ride them."
As a conditional jockey, Jones gets to take weight off her ride to give her a more level playing field with experienced jockeys.
But weighing 9st anyway it is more a battle to keep the weight on.
Being so slender means she can tour her favourite Chinese restaurants in her hometown of Barrow, Cumbria, and gorge on takeaways without fear of piling on too many pounds.
Jones, who graduated from Preston University, told SunSport: "There's always lots of lead in the saddle, which is rather heavy to hump around.
"Horses are my life. I grew up riding ponies and I've always wanted to ride over jumps."
Professional rugby has also become a strong part of Charlotte's recreational life.
She travels the country supporting boyfriend Sam Bedlow, a centre for Premiership leaders Bristol Bears.
Jones said: "We back each other. I go to his matches and he comes up here to help in the yard.
"We find that talking about each other's sport helps us to relax and I highly recommend it."
