Drag Race UK stars evacuated after hoaxer planted fake bomb at gay club
Stars of Rupaul’s Drag Race UK were at the centre of hoax bomb scare in London.
TV personalities Tia Kofi, The Vivienne and Veronica Green were all forced to hastily evacuate iconic nightclub Heaven after police received an anonymous tip-off that a bomb had been planted inside.
The drag queens were all rehearsing for an upcoming show when police stormed the famous gay venue after it was feared it was part of a targeted attack.
Veronica shared a photo on Instagram of the stars happily rehearsing on stage prior to the shock bomb alert.
A string of police vans were also pictured outside the venue as they rushed to clear the building and get the drag stars, staff and members of the public to safety until they investigated further.
Charing Cross train station had to also be evacuated as a precaution after a “suspicious package” raised the alarm near Trafalgar Square.
However, after searching the premises and examining the package, a bomb squad discovered the package was thankfully just a hoax and everyone was out of harm’s way.
But the Metropolitan Police are believed to be investigating whether the package was part of a homophobic attack in the capital.
“The drag queens had been rehearsing for their upcoming show Drag Queens of Pop and had been posting on social media that they were at Heaven,” a Heaven source told The Sun.
“The door was later found to be open and it seemed like someone had got in during the rehearsals. It seemed like a targeted attack because, due to Covid restrictions, the place is usually empty.
“But it appeared someone knew they were there and planted the hoax package.”
Unsurprisingly, the commotion didn’t go unnoticed by members of the public and one person tweeted a photo of number police vehicles outside Charing Cross train station and a large area cordoned off with police tape.
“There’s been a incident at Charing Cross train station in London,” they said on Twitter. “It’s been evacuated and there’ a heavy police presence.”
The Vivienne later posted a snap on her Instagram stories confirmed it has been a “crazy” day.
“Back home with @northwest_chauffers,” penned The Vivienne, accompanying a photo in the back of a chauffeur being driving home.
“Been a crazy day will inform you all later. But we’re ok x.”

Heaven manager Jeremy Joseph branded whoever is responsible for the hoax as a “sick individual”.
"I'm not going to lie, it was frightening, but I cant praise the police dog team enough, they were amazing, they have to enter a building not knowing if it is real or a hoax,” wrote Jeremy on Instagram.
"That was the most dramatic rehearsal ever. I had to walk round with the police and sniffer dogs to check the venue.
"There had been a bomb threat & everyone was evacuated, accept (sic) poor me, as we waited for police dogs to arrive, as the venue has been in lockdown apart from rehearsals.”

Met Police said the mystery package was examined by specialist officers and "subsequently confirmed as non-suspicious".
A spokesman said: "The circumstances in which the item was found suggest that it was part of an intentional hoax and an investigation is under way to identify the person or persons responsible."
Daily Star has also contacted Met Police for comment.
