Enjoy these bargain canned tipples now we can socialise in the spring sun
CHIN, chin – or should that be tin, tin?
Cans of alcohol are no longer just for beer lovers.
Tinnies of pre-mixed drinks and wines are my new best friends now we can socialise in the spring sun.
Here are some of my savvy favourites.
MULTI MUST-HAVES: Buying cans is more expensive than a big bottle, but they are far easier to lug around.
Multi-packs are the best way to save — and I love Aldi here.
Nab a whopping 24-pack of Tamova passion fruit Martini cans for just £20.40 — that’s only 85p a can.
Compare that to All Shook Up passion fruit Martini cans, £1.60 each at Tesco, and you’re on to a winner.
SAVING: Up to 75p per can.
WINE NOT? Instead of taking one bottle to the park, you can easily mix and match with handy wine cans (and it saves on bringing glasses, too).
I’m a big fan of Hun Sauvignon Blanc cans, £2.50 each at Tesco (four for three with a Clubcard).
They come in rosé too.
Asda also has sparkling Pinot Grigio options for £2, with four for three deals, too.
SAVING: Up to £2.50 on four cans.
HARD SEL: Alcoholic sparkling waters known as hard seltzers have been big news in the US, and now the UK is getting in on the action with the launch of White Claw in Tesco last year.
Cans cost £2.50 each (or four for three with a Clubcard) and come in raspberry, black cherry and natural lime.
But I’ve also seen seltzers at M&S for £1.80 a can and they’re just as refreshing — and only 75 calories or less. Winning.
SAVING: 70p a can.
GINNING PRICE: You can’t go wrong with a standard G&T premixed can — and I reckon Lidl has some of the savviest options.
You can nab Finton’s special London dry gin & tonic for just 85p per can — or grab the pink gin option for 89p.
This is cheaper than even the supermarket’s own Hortus range, where cans of G&T are £1.19 each.

Deal of the day
GET decked out in these men’s boat shoes, now just £13 instead of £26 at jdwilliams.co.uk.
ENJOY fishy Friday for less at Co-Op.
Fill your freezer with Birds Eye crispy fish fingers, two battered extra large fish fillets, a bag of garden peas and McCain oven chips as well as a Viennetta Neapolitan, all for a fiver when bought together.
NERVOUS about getting back behind the wheel?
If you’re unsure about driving again after a while, check gov.uk to see if your local authority is one of those offering discounted Pass Plus course schemes.
There are also affordable training schemes (around £50) for 60+ drivers, which may reassure you if need it.
I LOVE the Lotus Biscoff cream biscuits, £1.40 a pack at Morrisons.
But I recently found them for just £1 a pack in Poundland.
I know where I’ll be getting my biscuit fix from now on.
