ALL EYES ON THIS RESTARTBottas is pumped for this.He NEEDS to break Hamilton's run. The Finn has not won since the first race of the season in Austria.Seems a long time ago.Could they collide at the start?
RACE RESTARTS AT 17:12 LOCAL TIME
Should be a standing start again.
THIS IS YET ANOTHER THRILLING RACE
That is the third major incident, and the second time the race has been stopped.
We have had EIGHT car retire from this race.
It means Williams' is looking nailed on for points.
LAP 44 SAFETY CAR – BIG CRASH FOR STROLL – RED FLAG
Stroll goes off and the safety car is deployed.
That is another big crash and his Racing Point is totaled.
The Canadian is ok but the break in racing means the pitlane is very busy.
The crash happened at the Arrabiata 2 corner. He was travelling at well over 180mph when he lost control and slammed into the barriers.
LAP 40 CONCERN FOR HAMILTON?
Hamilton is told to keep off the kerbs by his race engineer.
The last time we heard that message was at Silverstone when he finished the race on three wheels after a blowout on the final lap.
LECLERC PITS AGAIN
He returns to the track down in 11th, behind Vettel in 10th. This is turning into a horrorshow for the home team.
In front, Hamilton now has a 6.4 second lead over Bottas.
HAMILTON STOPS FOR TYRES
And indeed he does get a set of hard tyres, just like Bottas.
With the pitstop shuffle it is Hamilton, Bottas, Ricciardo, Stroll, Albon, Perez, Norris, Leclerc
TATTOO TIME AT RENAULT
Ricciardo has passed Stroll in the pits, it means that he is now third and on for a podium.
That would result in him cashing in on a bet that would see his Renault boss FORCED to get a tattoo of the Aussie's design.
Bottas pitting for tyres. Problem is here, he has gone before Hamilton, so the Brit could still end up on the same compounds.
Bottas has gone for hards. Likely that Hamilton will go for the same.
Hamilton leads Bottas and then there is a whopping 16 second gap to Stroll, in third place.
Bottas has just radioed the pits saying he wants the opposite set of tyres to what Hamilton picks on his next stop.
Leclerc pits for hard tyres. He returns in P12.
Ferrari seem to be guessing here.
OH DEAR, THIS IS EMBARRASSING FOR FERRARI
In front of their CEO and Chairman, they are currently in 6th and 11th place in this, their home race, at their test track, in their 1,000th race.
Leclerc now sinking. He has slipped to fifth and now Albon is catching him.
Stroll gets the move done on Leclerc and the Racing Point is now in third place.
And Albon has passed Sergio Perez and climbs back to sixth.
Vettel has moved past Raikkonen and into 11th while Stroll is gaining on Leclerc.
Out in front, Hamilton has almost a two second lead.
HAMILTON GETS BOTTAS
The Brit breezes past his teammate and goes into first place. That is a nightmare for the Finn.
And also for Alex Albon, who has sunk from fourth place to seventh. That's a shocker.
It is Hamilton, Bottas, Leclerc, Stroll, Perez, Ricciardo, Albon.
WE ARE GO
After a delay of 30 minutes, it is lights out and we are off.
Both Mercedes have switched to medium tyres, the rest of the top 10, apart from Russell, are on softs.
WE ARE ABOUT TO GET GOING AGAIN
Cars making their way back to the grid for the standing start restart.
ESTEBAN OCON RETIRES FROM THE RACE
Renault have pulled the Frenchman out as his brakes were overheating. Interestingly, Russell says he could see them on fire.
RESTART IN SIX MINUTES
And it will be from a standing start.
SIX CARS OUT
Latifi, Magnussen, Giovinazzi, Sainz, Verstappen and Gasly have retired from this race.
We are on lap 9 of 59, so still a long way to go.
Max Verstappen speaking to Sky Sports: “On the formation lap the engine stalled and probably it was a bit of the same problem as Monza. I had a good launch, I went around Lewis and then didn't accelerate.
“That's what happens when you get in a situation like that, I would've probably retired anyway.”
GROSJEAN IS FURIOUS
Grosjean: “They want to kill us or what? That was the worst thing I have seen, ever!”
Latifi narrowly avoided hitting Magnussen and dived out of the way, but Giovinazzi and the Sainz were not so lucky.
THAT WAS NASTY
Bottas had backed the pack up as the safety car came in and all the cars were put into a tight bunch.
As the race resumed, Magnussen was slow and Giovinazzi slammed into the back of the Haas.
Both cars were sent flying and clattered into Carlos Sainz's McLaren and Nicholas Latifi's WIlliams.
Romain Grosjean also close to getting taken out by all the damage.
THAT IS A BIG SMASH – RACE STOPPED
Sainz, Grosjean, Giovinazzi Magnussen and Litifi all involved.
