First Look at the Air Jordan 1 "Washed Black"

If something’s dubbed “washed,” the connotation associated with it is often negative. According to Urban Dictionary, “washed” is “a term used to describe a general feeling of exhaust, tiredness and lack of motivation.” Thankfully, Jordan Brand isn’t adhering to that malaise-inducing definition on their newest Air Jordan 1 colorway, the “Washed Black.” A largely understated color scheme with some compelling material adjustments, the “Washed Black” is the good kind of washed: fresh, clean and crisp.

Revealed by Instagram sneaker leaker long7ze, the Air Jordan 1 “Washed Black” offers up a “Black/Fire Red/Light Smoke Grey/Sail” color scheme with key details provided by suede overlays that replace the AJ1’s standard leather overlays, two-tone collars and a bright pop of flair on the tongue tag. Suede takes on Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker are not necessarily a new phenomenon, with models like the “Stage Haze” and “Light Smoke Grey” serving up suede stylings in the past, but they’re still infrequent enough to be compelling and bring a bit of Nike SB flair to the beloved model.

The Air Jordan 1 “Washed Black” will supposedly release on June 10, but this date of arrival has yet to be confirmed by Nike or Jordan Brand. When it does drop, it’ll be priced at $180.
