St Patrick’s Day falls on Wednesday, March 17 and would usually see celebrators pack pubs and bars to commemorate Ireland’s patron saint. However, lockdown measures mean celebrating will have to be done at home, with video calls to friends and family.

While some may be missing the pub, you can instead host a St Patrick’s Day quiz, have drinks or simply video call for a chat instead.

Virtual St Patrick’s Day events are also being held, and around 670 sites in around 66 countries taking place in Global Greening event.

Monuments around the world will be lit up green in celebration of St Patrick’s Day this year.

There will also be a virtual St Patrick’s Day parade held by RTE, asking those taking part to use #RTEVirtualParade on Twitter to share pictures of their celebrations at home.

We may have bad weather in Ireland, but the sun shines in the hearts of the people and that keeps us all warm. – Marianne Williamson

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

May you have love that never ends,
Lots of money, and lots of friends.

Health be yours, whatever you do,
And may God send many blessings to you!

May peace and plenty bless your world
With a joy that long endures
And may all life’s passing seasons
ring the best to you and yours.

May this St Patrick’s Day find you with green in your pocket and a little spring in your step! Happy St Patrick’s Day

May the luck of the Irish be with you this St Patrick’s Day. Happy St Patrick’s Day!
