Harrison Ford battles Nazis after nightfall in final Indiana Jones movie

Harrison Ford has once again taken up the titular role in the fifth and final instalment of the Indiana Jones franchise.

The 78-year-old will be battling Nazis in the as-yet unnamed movie, with filming currently taking place at Bamburgh Castle in Northumbria.

But much of the filming has to take place after night has fallen, to avoid offending the locals with Nazi symbols.

Swaztikas on banners around the castle, along with Third Reich military vehicles, are covered up until shooting starts.

And, 13 years after the last Indiana Jones film, Harrison has once again donned his adventurer’s garb to take up his titular role.

He has been busy delighting the locals with appearances around the area, including an appearance in Melrose in the Scottish Borders alongside co-star Toby Jones to buy some Scotch pies, and at one North Shields restaurant, where he ordered a sea bass.

The actor turned up in full Lycra after cycling to The Ship's Cat, where he spent £29.45 on lunch, and even posed for some selfies with eager fans.

According to Radio Borders, Harrison was the definition of polite when he popped into a butcher's shop in Melrose. Owner Martin Baird said: "He just came in and took some Scotch pies. He was a very nice gentleman, and all-round nice guy."

Of the new film, a source told The Sun: "Indiana Jones is back fighting the Nazis.

"Lots of extras will play members of the Wehrmacht and there are scores of armoured military vehicles, including panzer tanks and sidecars, on site.

"There’s even a guard tower. But they’re desperate not to cause offence so filming has mainly taken place at night.”

The source added that the Nazi symbols on vehicles are "taped over" until the "last minute", in an effort to be "as sensitive as possible".

But the Star Wars star has begged fans to give him a break, after many were clamouring for selfies.

A witness told ChronicleLive that the actor left his Quayside hotel in Newcastle in a bid to avoid crowds of fans.

He ended up asking some fans to leave, having reportedly already said he would not be signing autographs or posing for pictures.

Clearly cautious about the prevalence of Covid-19, Harrison has been careful to wear a face covering while out and about, and appears to be doing his best to avoid the crowds.

He is even believes to have left through Gusto restaurant kitchen to avoid the worst of the gatherings, after exiting his hotel through the back entrance.

The fifth Indiana Jones film is scheduled for release in summer 2022.
