Horse racing tips: Punchestown Festival Day Two picks with Templegate NAP who is 'way below' last winning mark
TEMPLEGATE is taking on top-class day of racing on Wednesday.
There is a feast of action including day two of the Punchestown Festival and Royal Ascot trials day.
Our top tipster Templegate has gone through all the cards and picked out his most fancied runners in Britain and Ireland.
You can see his race-by-race guide to Punchestown below.
Don't forget you can back a horse simply by clicking their odds – good luck!
GOOD BIRTHDAY (1.50 Ascot, nap)
His best form has come over this distance and fast ground is right up his street. Up and coming claimer Harry Davies takes off 7lb which puts him way below his last winning mark.
WHISTLE AND FLUTE (2.25 Ascot, nb)
He is trained by Eve Johnson Houghton who took this 12 months ago with Royal winner Chipotle. He looked useful when winning on debut at Bath 13 days ago.
WORDSWORTH (3.35 Ascot, treble)
He was third in last year’s Irish Derby and can make his mark in staying contests this season after a good comeback win at Gowran for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore.

Punchestown Festival day two tips
DADS LAD looked a nice prospect when winning on handicap debut at Cork in November but has raced just twice since and needed it after a break at Fairyhouse. He likes this trip and won’t be far away.
Life In The Park impressed in beating 14 rivals at Tramore 17 days ago. He stays well and is a threat on handicap debut.
FREEDOM TO DREAM ran a cracker when a close-up fourth in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham last month. He finished well and will love the guaranteed crazy pace here.
I A Connect was held up out the back in that race and is better judged on his win here in November. He looks a threat for Gordon Elliott.
GANAPATHI will love this better ground after a good effort despite the mud at Cork last week. Moving back up in trip looks a wise move and he can keep up the good Willie Mullins record in this race.
Fils D’Oudairies was a close second in good company at Aintree and will be a big threat if that didn’t take too much out of him.
Largy Debut wasn’t disgraced in a Grade 2 at the Irish National meeting and beat Kilcruit before Christmas so is no mug.
THE NICE GUY turned the Albert Bartlett into a procession at Cheltenham when loving the step up to three miles. That was just his second run over hurdles and it will take a big effort to beat him.
Journey With Me would have hit the frame in the Ballymore but for a final-flight fall. He won his first two hurdles runs well and can bounce back.
Minella Coccooner was no match for the tip at Cheltenham but may have gone for home too soon and is proven in this Grade 1 company. He’s another with more to offer.
MINELLA INDO was no match for A Plus Tard in the Cheltenham Gold Cup but was clear best of the rest. He has winning form here and his staying power is a major asset.
Allaho is one of the greats at 2m4f but has never been quite as good over this trip. The likely decent ground will help but he may just be collared in the closing stages.
Similar comments apply to Fakir D’Oudairies who was so impressive at Aintree.
Defending champ Clan Des Obeaux also won at Aintree but this is a much stiffer challenge so he needs his very best.
Galvin probably needs further so Al Boum Photo has a chance of outrunning his odds given how lightly raced he has been in recent seasons.
FACILE VEGA was brilliant when winning the Cheltenham Champion Bumper and can make it nine wins in the past 12 runnings for Willie Mullins.
He didn’t have to break sweat and there’s more to come. American Mike followed him home last time and is booked for the same spot. Seabank Mistro looks best of the rest.
CIEL DE NEIGE was chinned on the line at Thurles last month after landing three convincing wins on the spin. He’s back in handicap company off a fair mark and has run well here before.
Royal Rendezvous didn’t get going over the National fences in the Topham but went well in Graded company before and has every chance.
THE MODEL KINGDOM has been off since her barnstorming win at Navan in November. She quickened really nicely there and will be hard to beat if repeating that turn of foot.
Nikini finished off strongly at Fairyhouse three weeks ago and looks a threat along with stablemate Pink In The Park who was half a length ahead of her last time.
