Inside Rebel Wilson’s fitness transformation after huge five-stone weight loss
Rebel Wilson has spent the first year of her 40s completely overhauling her life, setting out on a fitness mission to lose some weight and transform herself.
At the start of 2020 – before the entire world was plunged into varying levels of lockdown – the Hollywood actress revealed plans to make it her "Year of Health".
Today (March 2), the Pitch Perfect star turns 41, and she's managed to lose an astounding 30kg, almost five stone, since deciding to turn her life around.
In fact, she reached her goal weight of 75kg (11st 11lbs) back in November 2020, less than a year after she set out on her journey.
To mark her special day – and her incredible progress – Daily Star is taking a look back at Rebel's journey.
Turning the heat up
Rebel's weight loss journey actually started before she decided to turn her life around in her self-labelled "Year of Health".
She revealed she started shedding the pounds while filming the musical movie Cats – so while the film might not have gone down too well with fans, it clearly did wonders for Rebel.
The blonde beauty lost eight pounds in four days while filming her role of Jennyanydots.
She told Entertainment Tonight last year: "They heated up the set very high, to almost 100°F [38°C], so that we could never cool down.
"These people are like, the best dancers in the whole world, so they can't cool their muscles down or they could get an injury and they'd be out of the film."

At the start of 2020, Rebel shared a post on her Instagram in which she could be seen having a stroll on the beach.
She announced her plans to change her life, announcing that the year – which would see itself turned on its head before long – would be her "Year of Health".
"I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk," she told her 9.6million followers, "deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had but I’m going to do it!"

In her Instagram post, she explained she was cutting down junk food and excess sugar – and it turns out there was a very sad reason she was overindulging.
Rebel told Drew Barrymore on her self-named talk show that she had suffered with emotional eating due to the pressures of fame.
She explained she would eat around 3,000 calories a day – whereas NHS guidelines recommend women consume 2,000 calories a day.
"There is a lot of stress that comes with it, and I guess my way of dealing with it was just eating donuts," she told the actress.
"So I was working on the mental side of things of 'Why was I not doing that? Why was I not valuing myself and having better self-worth?'"
Of course, Rebel still enjoys sweet treats but "now only once or twice a week", instead having a bubble bath on the other nights.

Rebel decided, as she approached 40, it was time to make some health changes after deciding to freeze her eggs.
She said during an Instagram question and answer session: "I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, 'OK, I'm going to do this, I'm going to get healthy.'"
Sadly, she knew she had a challenge ahead of her, as losing weight was more difficult for her due to her polycystic ovarian syndrome, genetics and, as mentioned, her tendency to emotionally eat.
The Mayr Method

It's believed that Rebel is following the Mayr Method, as she visited the VivaMayr retreat in Austria to help boost her outlook on her fitness journey.
She thanked the team, including Dr Schubert, and said: "I'm going to start 2021 in an amazing place, with a healthy body and mind… and boosted immune system."
Rebel added: "Now on to maintaining the weight loss and the healthy lifestyle!"

The Mayr Method works on helping weight loss by improving gut health.
It was created by Austrian physician Franz Xaver Mayr, and it eliminates sugar and caffeine, while introducing specific eating habits.
For example, those following the plan do not snack during the day, reduce their intake of gluten and dairy, and, oddly, chew their food at least 40 to 60 times.

Rebel often shares glimpses of her work outs with her fans on Instagram, and it's clear they're working wonders for her.
She revealed she does at least an hour of physical activity every day apart from Sunday, which is her "rest day".
The Bridesmaids star has been working with a number trainers during her incredible transformation, including Jono Castano and Gunnar Peterson.
Jono previously shared a look at Rebel's weekly work out regime, which features plenty of high intensity interval training.
He explained to Today that Rebel would do HIIT up to four times a week, as well as weights, resistance training and mobility exercises.

As well as a hard-hitting exercise plan, Rebel enjoys hiking as a way to keep fit too and actually get most of her physical activity from the hobby.
She told fans: "Walking is the best way for me – for my body type – to metabolise fat.
"On the physical side, my biggest tip, guys, is get out there and walk.
"If you can do an hour, that's what I like to do, when I go walking, and it is the best. Just get your body moving."
Rebel regularly shares photos from her hikes, showing she has some seriously picturesque walks at her doorstep.

Rebel has admitted that she still does struggle with turning to food when she's feeling worried or anxious, but she now tries to replace it with more healthy habits.
She said she would use her weight as a way to keep those bad habits in place, as she "wasn't treating [herself] with love and respect" and "wasn't valuing" herself.
"I'm working on self love and that's a hard concept to master," she added.
Nowadays, Rebel journals and writes down her emotions as well as what she's grateful for – no matter how small.

While Rebel's fitness goal was for herself, there's no surprise her incredible transformation has caught the attention of the opposite sex.
Rebel found love with American billionaire Jason Busch last year, sharing a number of photos with him on her social media.
Sadly, earlier this year, she confirmed that the relationship was off – but it clearly wasn't getting her down.
Ahead of the Super-Bowl, Rebel shared a photo on Instagram and referred to herself as a "single girl", writing the hashtag "single-girl-heading-to-Super-Bowl".
