Champions League Final

They may have been beaten twice by Chelsea since the middle of last month, but the majority of money for Saturday evening’s Champions League Final in Porto is coming for Manchester City.

They have been trimmed slightly to 20/23 from 10/11 to win inside 90 minutes, although all the stats point to a very tight affair, with both sides conceding only four goals each throughout this season’s competition.

Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper Edouard Mendy returned to training this week after an injury sustained against Aston Villa cast doubt over his availability for the final.

Thomas Tuchel will welcome his return to fitness, because he has kept eight clean sheets in eleven matches in the Champions League this season and is a 3/1 shot to do so again on the biggest stage.

However, Man City have won 11 of their 12 matches leading up to the final and whether or not they can do it inside the 90 minutes, they are hot 2/5 shots to get their hands on the silverware come the end of the night.

There’s another huge match on the undercard on Saturday as Brentford and Swansea battle for Premier League promotion in the match dubbed the richest game in football.

They are also 2/5 to lift the Championship play-off trophy at Wembley and the Brentford/Man City combination is a well-backed double this weekend at just shy of Even money.

Tottenham next manager

One market which has come in for a serious hammering in recent days has been the race to replace Jose Mourinho as permanent manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports earlier in the week claimed the club were in talks with Belgium boss Roberto Martinez and he is now a 7/1 shot from 20/1.

He had enjoyed a short stint as favourite, but things quickly changed when it emerged that Mauricio Pochettino was another candidate being spoken to about a sensational return to North London.

He also started the week at 20/1, but is now odds-on at 4/7 to be saying au revoir to Paris already, just a week after his PSG side were pipped to the Ligue 1 title by Lille.

Antonio Conte’s departure from Inter Milan has seen him enter the frame at 8/1 from 22/1, and with Erik Ten Hag (6/1) and Nuno Espirito Santo (20/1) still in the mix after previous gambles.

It’s fair to say this has been one of our most competitive manager markets in recent memory and it looks like Daniel Levy is spoilt for choice.
