Jamie Oliver’s children follow in the footsteps their dad as Buddy and Petal make chef debut

Jamie Oliver has enlisted the help of two of his children to join him in the kitchen while cooking in lockdown.

His kids Buddy, nine and Petal, 11, made their chef debut in a short recipe video filmed from their £6 million countryside mansion in Essex.

They follow in the footsteps of Gordon Ramsay's daughter Tilly, 18, who has carved out her own career as a TV chef scoring her own cooking show on CBBC, with her dad as her mentor.

Whether Buddy and Petal will want to copy their famous dad and become a chef, the duo proved they certainly had the culinary skills when it came to whipping up banana frozen yoghurt to enjoy as a dessert.

The siblings teamed up to share the recipe which took less than a minute to make and included just three ingredients.

Posting the video to his Instagram feed Jamie wrote: "Buddy and Petal have a new recipe for you all!! Banana FRO-YO! So many of you have been asking for more recipes from Buddy so give this one a go with the kids and dont forget to share your pictures and videos using #kitchenbuddies & tag me in!

"Get cracking with it this morning so you can enjoy this delicious delight this afternoon in the sunshine. All you need is bananas, lime and yoghurt!

The family-friendly fro-yo recipe requires two ripe bananas, one lime and three large tablespoons of natural yoghurt.

Buddy has Petal as his assistant as they both stand behind the wooden kitchen counter and pour in the ingredients into the blender.

"Today, we're going to show you how to make delicious homemade ice cream in one minute," the siblings said in the video which has racked up 1.6m views.

The pair slice up chunks of ripe bananas and cover in the squeezed lime juice which then have to be frozen for at least half a day, sealed in a bag.

"The acid from the lime stops the bananas from going brown and also adds a lot more flavour," Buddy explains.

They remove them and pop them into the blender, before cutting a lime in half carefully using a knife, which they advise their viewers to get parental supervision for.

"These are the frozen bananas," Buddy says as he hold up the bag, "And we're now going to pop the in the food processor until they are smooth."

The duo add in the dollop of natural yoghurt and turn on the blender again to create the whipped frozen texture like ice cream.

The pair then dollop their mixture into ice cream cones and say that if their viewers don't have them to hand they can spoon it into bowls.
