Kate Garraway appears lost in thought as Derek’s tragic health battle continues

Kate Garraway appeared downcast as she was spotted heading to Smooth Radio on Tuesday as her husband Derek Draper is still in hospital.

The 53-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter has gone through an agonising lockdown as her husband Derek was left in a critical condition after contracting coronavirus.

He remains in hospital recovering from the aftermath of the deadly Covid-19.

Kate was seen with her eyes to the floor as she walked through Leicester Square whilst carrying a large bag over her shoulder, alongside two bags for life.

The television presenter, who has been under stress due to Derek's illness, appeared to have a sombre expression on her face.

The natural beauty went make-up free behind her glasses, donning a stylish pink floral blouse, white blazer, and fashionable flared jeans as she headed to work for her Radio show.

Derek was rushed to hospital back in March after contracting a serious strain of coronavirus.

While he no longer has the virus, Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on his health and he is still in recovery.

Speaking on an episode of GMB earlier this month, Kate updated fans on Derek's condition.

Explaining how it was their 15th wedding anniversary while he is in hospital, Kate said: "15 years today.

"I won't be able to see him today. I kind of hoped I would but it hasn't worked out that way for the visit. But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway.

"So yeah, it's a tough day, but he's still here. There's not a huge amount of change."

She added: "There's so many, sort of, seeming positives and then plungings, but actually when I see people again it's just the same, but you have to think well at least he's here with you.

"You have a flicker and then a bad day, but just got to keep going really."
