Man Utd will pay no more than £50m transfer fee for Jadon Sancho this summer… half of Borussia Dortmund's asking price

MANCHESTER UNITED will pay no more than £50million to sign Jadon Sancho this summer – less than half Borussia Dortmund's asking price.

The German giants recently revealed they would only sell the England winger for £117m.

But United have come out and said they won't go a penny over £50m with clubs reeling from the financial repercussions of coronavirus.

Sky Sports report a senior official at Old Trafford confirmed their limit on the England man.

Sancho, 20, is hopeful of a return to England after quitting Manchester City in an £8m deal in 2017.

A host of European giants, including Premier League champions Liverpool, are rumoured to be interested.

But United were deemed to be the only club with enough financial clout to pull off a move this summer.

Yet the latest news suggest Dortmund will have to cave to a much lower valuation or keep hold of Sancho, with the Red Devils standing firm at £50m.

Sancho currently has just two years left on his contract, with his deal set to expire at the end of the 2021-22 season.

And Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is adamant there will be NO discount on the Three Lions youngster just because of coronavirus – and expects to keep him beyond this season.

Watzke told Sport1: "I don't think a club will pay the sum.

"There is also no coronavirus discount on him."

Meanwhile, Dortmund appear to have beaten Man Utd to the signing of Birmingham whizkid Jude Bellingham.
