Matt Baker’s home: Inside the BBC presenter’s Hertfordshire farmhouse as he bids The One Show farewell

Alex Jones broke down in tears as she said goodbye to her The One Show co-host Matt Baker, 42, on his last day on the programme.

The presenting duo were forced to say their goodbyes via webcam, with Alex still in the studio, as Matt continues to self-isolate after a member of his family showed symptoms of coronavirus.

As well as viewers at home, Alex, 43, was left in tears after a montage of Matt’s best moments from the nine years that he’s hosted the programme aired on Tuesday night's episode.

Matt has been a firm part of the show since he first started presenting it, but recently announced his departure from the role in a bid to spend more time with his family and “put his children to bed.”

The star lives in a gorgeous farmhouse in Hertfordshire, which viewers caught glimpses of as Matt worked out of his office for his final The One Show appearances.

In a 2015 interview with The Mirror, Matt revealed he and his family own livestock, including chickens and sheep and the star, who enjoys gardening, either drives or takes the train to central London.

Matt’s home office looks very cosy, with blankets added for extra comfort. It’s clear the presenter has brought the outside in, with farm life represented on the walls of the house and on the patterned cushions.

The star, who started out on children’s show Blue Peter, from 1999 until 2006, told his 168,000 Instagram that he’d be “battening down the hatches,” as a result of someone from his home having coronavirus symptoms.

He then showed his followers a shot of the space he’d been filming The One Show in, revealing a beautiful, floral patterned carpet, cosy blue sofa and his gorgeous dog, Bob, who lazed on the sofa and went down “very well on social media.”

Matt’s social media is taken up by photos with his lovely dogs and livestock, from hens to sheep.

It turns out the dad-of-two is also a fan of art, and shared a video of himself painting the gruffalo in his garden recently.

“Today I painted the #gruffalo one for the #kids,” he wrote as one person commented: “Love the sheep just pottering on in the background.”

And when he’s not painting, Matt is getting hands on with making a bird perch in his garden, as you do!

During his time at home, we’ve caught glimpses into Matt’s stunning farmhouse including a shot of his kids working away at the table.

The rustic lounge shows off a large bookshelf in a sage green colour, and a big wooden table sits in the centre of the space, alongside a fire and some cosy sofas atop stone flooring.

The large area also reveals animal prints and deer ornaments stand on the bookshelf next to a candelabra. On the wall hangs a large TV screen which Matt can now use to keep up with the goings on of The One Show.
