McFly are one of the most iconic British pop bands of all time, but its famous members are stars in their own right after rising to fame in 2003.

The group's lovable line-up consists of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd.

And to celebrate the anniversary of Harry winning Strictly Come Dancing, Daily Star is taking a look at what the lads have been getting up to since their rise to fame.

The London lads quickly went on to make history as the youngest ever band to have an album debut at number one in the UK – managing to de-throne The Beatles who previously held the record.

The band have bagged seven UK number-one hits over the years and 18 consecutive top 20 singles after winning the Brit Award for Best British Pop Act in 2005.

Although the band went on an indefinite hiatus for a few years after 2016, they came back with a bang in 2019.

As well as announcing a new album of unreleased material, the band scheduled a huge arena tour which was delayed due to the Covid pandemic.

However, they were finally able to embark on their Young Dumb Thrills tour and toured all over the UK thrilling fans with their bags of hits like Obviously.

It's been a busy time for lead singer Tom, too, because he competed on the 19th series of Strictly Come Dancing – paired up with his Strictly pro Amy Dowden.

He's not the first McFly singer to star on the hit BBC One dancing show either, because his bandmate Harry won the series in 2011.

But what else have the lads been up to apart from stints on Strictly?

    Dougie Poynter

Hunky bass player Dougie was crowned king of the jungle in 2011 after winning the hearts of the British public on I'm A Celebrity.

During his famous jungle stint, Dougie became close friends with TOWIE star Mark Wright whilst enduring some gruelling Bushtucker Trials.

Dougie has dated some rather famous stars in the past, having had a relationship with pop singer Ellie Goulding for two years before they split in 2016.

Discussing their split at the time, Ellie said: "Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head.

"Dougie is one of the most special people in the world and I’m so happy for him. He’s doing well in LA and he’s still one of my best friends. I know he feels the same."

He also dated The Saturdays star Frankie Bridge, who entered I'm A Celeb on ITV in November, between 2008 and 2010.

Dougie revealed that he turned to drug use to help him deal with his worries about the band breaking up.

When McFly briefly broke up in 2016, Dougie admitted that "cracks were appearing" which caused resentment and jealousy among the group.

He told The Sun: "There was a bit of jealousy creeping in, I think with people doing their own thing, like, 'What's he doing? Why's he doing that? Why aren't we talking about McFly?'

“I think there's been moments if I'm honest where each of us have done things that we've all found really difficult.

“I know I did a show with Tom, and Dougie and Danny came to watch, and they were like, 'That sucks that you two are doing that.' And then I went to watch Danny's show and I was like, 'I'm kind of happy for you but that sucks."

The star confessed to taking "lethal doses" of Valium after McFly decided to take an indefinite hiatus, and said that two years of his life went by "like a dream".

When asked if he struggles to remember the times in which he used the drug, he told The Sun: "Honestly, yeah. I mean, you get flashbacks, but it’s a huge blur. It’s strange.

“That’s something which is really hard to come to terms with, literally losing two years. Two years just went as like a weird dream. Coming out the other end was like, ‘What? Where’s my band?’"

However, the talented star has not only found fame and glory in McFly and written for other acts like One Direction – he's a fashionista too.

He is the founder of skate clothing brand Zookie, and previously owned and founded Saint Kidd, which is no longer active.

    Harry Judd

McFly drummer Harry has given his bandmate Tom a lot to live up to, because he flew to victory on Strictly in 2011.

The musician was partnered up with professional dancer Aliona Vilani, and they regularly topped the leaderboards during their series.

Harry won the sparkling glitterball trophy during the grand final, which was held at Blackpool's Tower Ballroom.

It wasn't Harry's first time dancing on television either, as he'd previously beaten This Morning star Rochelle Humes during a Children in Need special in 2010.

Harry proceeded to star in a number of Strictly spin-off episodes, including the underwater Sport Relief edition in 2012 and the Christmas special in 2015, which he also won.

Harry met his wife Izzy Johnston, a former Escala violinist, in 2005 whilst the pair performed together on McFly's 2005 tour.

Izzy had played as part of the string section during the concert tour, and the pair tied the knot in 2012.

The happy couple now share two children, Lola and Kit after struggling to conceive with IVF.

Harry announced that Izzy was pregnant for the first time in 2015.

He wrote: "Izzy and I are so happy and feel truly blessed to be able to share with you that we are expecting out very own little miracle Baby Judd."

More recently, Harry has graced the West End stage after joining forced with fellow Strictly stars like Jay McGuinness and Aston Merrygold for their 60s-themed show, Rip It Up.

    Danny Jones

Danny founded McFly with Tom before Dougie and Harry were in the picture, with the pair advertising auditions for the band in NME magazine.

As well as earning his stripes as a producer, lead guitarist Danny penned three of his own solo tracks for the first three McFly albums.

Danny also wrote a track for One Direction's second album, as well as their song Don't Forget Where You Belong which features on their third album, Midnight Memories.

The star loved to DJ too, and he's remixed many of his band's tracks including Party Girl and Nowhere Left to Run.

Danny found a rather glam wife in former Miss England and stunning model, Georgia Horsley.

The smitten pair tied the knot in 2014 after getting engaged the previous year.

They now share their son, Cooper Alf Jones, whom they welcomed into the world in January 2018.

Danny is a judge on all five series of The Voice Kids UK, where he judges alongside stars like Jessie J and Melanie C.

Danny is also an avid football fan who supports his local team, Bolton Wanderers, and he's taken part in a number of Soccer Aid matches over the years.

    Tom Fletcher

Multi-talented musician Tom was originally a member of Busted before he shot to fame with McFly.

Tom explained that he was in the original Busted line-up for "approximately 24 hours" but the record label decided they wanted the band to continue as a trio instead.

However, Tom has gone on to write or co-write a string of UK number one hits for Busted including Thunderbirds, Crashed the Wedding and Who's David.

Away from music, Tom is a YouTube star who regularly posts clips of his daily life on his channel, and even a children's author who has written the books such as The Christmasaurus.

He has written two children's books with his McFly pal Danny.

Tom met his famous wife Giovanna Fletcher at school at the young age of 13 – making them childhood sweethearts.

In 2011, Tom proposed to the I'm A Celebrity winner at the assembly hall in which they first met.

Their gorgeous 2012 wedding went viral after Tom performed a beautiful 14-minute medley of McFly songs to his bride.

The celebrity couple look after their three sons, Buzz, Buddy and Max.

Most recently, Tom has been taking to the dancefloor on Strictly in a bid to win the glitterball like his bandmate Harry, so it's fair to say there could be some rivalry among the McFly cohort.

Upon joining the BBC show, Tom revealed that he wasn't sure whether or not to take Harry's advice.

He said: "I don’t know whether I should trust his advice or if he is trying to secretly steer me in the wrong direction because he’s quite competitive."

Sadly, Tom wasn't able to repeat Harry's success, as he was eliminated just weeks before the finale.
