NEEDLES' Papillon PVC Mule Makes Working From Home a Sophisticated Sartorial Statement

Keizo Shimizu‘s cult Japanese imprint NEEDLES has released a pair of mules, bringing its famous “Papillon” motif to 2020 (and probably 2021’s) most important piece of footwear.

The “Papillon” motif — or butterfly for those who don’t speak French — is NEEDLES’ signature branding stamp. Now, the logo finds itself appearing in its classic embroidered purple look on the top vamp section of each foot, complementing the black PVC base that’s covered in purple paisley-esque floral graphics.

NEEDLES’ slip-on pair is contrasted by a black rubber sole unit that’s rounded off with a purple outsole, as well as a black trim that lines the collar opening of the mule. Inside, you’ll find soft and fuzzy footbeds branded with NEEDLES’ moniker in metallic gold, further adding to the luxury of this pair.

Altogether, the mule you see above is a sophisticated pair and one that’s perfect for lounging around at home, or for wearing outside. Its almond toe makes a strong sartorial statement, while the print brings a sense of playfulness and fun.
