NFL Announces Schedule Changes, Ravens-Steelers Game Moved To Wednesday

The NFL has made more late adjustments to its regular season schedule due to issues relating to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Per Grant Gordon of NFL.com, the NFL has postponed the Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers Week 12 game to Wednesday afternoon at 3:40 p.m. EST. That game was initially scheduled to take place on Thursday evening as part of the NFL’s traditional Thanksgiving tripleheader.

But it was later moved to Sunday afternoon after the Ravens experienced a COVID-19 outbreak. The NFL then decided to reschedule the game to Tuesday night. But finally, on Monday, they pushed it back a third time to Wednesday.

This forced the league to make several more changes to the schedule. The Ravens were initially scheduled to play the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 13, but that game has now been moved to next Tuesday (8:05 p.m. EST).

The Steelers’ Week 13 home game against the Washington Football Team – slated to take place this Sunday – has now been postponed to next Monday. That contest will be played at 5:00 p.m. EST, before the Buffalo Bills play the San Francisco 49ers on ESPN’s Monday Night Football program.

The league has made several adjustments to its schedule because of multiple team outbreaks. The idea of adding an 18th week to the regular season has been widely suggested, but the NFL doesn’t seem keen on doing that at this time.

As it currently stands, the regular season is scheduled to conclude on Jan. 3, with the postseason beginning six days later on Jan. 9. Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida, is scheduled to take place on Feb. 7.

It’s been a long and challenging year for the NFL, to say the very least. But they’re on the verge of getting through the 12th week of the regular season. The league, all 32 teams and the fans can only hope that they’ll be able to finish the season as scheduled.
