How to make the Queen’s favourite pancakes

The Queen’s personal pancake recipe was revealed in 2013.

However, these pancakes are not actually pancakes, they are in fact drop scones or scotch pancakes which are slightly thicker and fluffier than your average pancake.

Ingredients

  • Four teacups flour
  • Four tablespoons caster sugar
  • Two teacups milk
  • Two whole eggs
  • Two teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  • Three teaspoons cream of tartar
  • Two tablespoons melted butter.

Method

Begin by beating the eggs, sugar and around half the milk together in a bowl.

Next, you should add the flour and mix well together, adding the remainder of the milk in as required.

You should add the bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar, before folding in the melted butter.

You should heat a frying pan or griddle pan with some melted butter in.

Then you should pour in two or three large spoonfuls of the batter, making sure they do not touch one another.

These are your drop scones or scotch pancakes.

You should wait until the batter is bubbling on top and then flip each drop scone over.

When they are ready they will be lightly browned on each side.

How to make mini pancake cereal

Mini pancake cereal is the latest trend on social media platform TikTok.

The trend features miniature pancakes in a bowl which are shown drenched in syrup and eaten like cereal.

To make these miniature pancakes you can begin by using the same batter mix as the Queen’s favourite pancakes.

Instead of using a large spoonful to create the scotch pancakes, you can make miniature pancakes by pouring small drops of the batter into a pan or skillet.

Then you should flip them when they are golden brown.

Once the pancakes have cooled you can transfer them to a bowl.

Often these mini pancakes are eaten covered in milk and a drizzle of maple syrup, which can then be eaten like cereal.
