Piers Morgan has had a successful career in the media industry and he started his journey in 1985 when he became a reporter after studying journalism at Harlow College. Today, the journalist has his own programmes, his own books and a presenting role on the popular morning news show, Good Morning Britain. How much has Piers earned over throughout his career?

Thanks to his successful journalism career, Piers has created a massive fortune. 

According to CelebrityNetWorth, the journalist is worth a whopping £15million.

Three years after becoming a reporter in 1985, Piers kick started his career by joining The Sun newspaper as a freelance journalist. 

He then moved to The Sun as a full time journalist and wrote the newspaper’s ‘Bizarre’ column where he frequently interviewed celebrities like David Bowie and Paul McCartney.

In 1994, Piers became the youngest editor of News of the World in over 50 years and was appointed the job by Rupert Murdoch.

It was here that the journalist became known for his opinionated thoughts that would go on to make him famous. 

He left the national newspaper just one year later and took over as the editor of the Daily Mirror. 

Piers was there for seven years before being fired and then took over as owner of the Press Gazette, a media trade publication that also ran the British Press Awards.

The deal with Press Gazette earned Piers a huge amount of money and was said to be worth £1million. 

He added to his worth by launching First News in 2006 which was a weekly paper aimed at seven to 14 year olds. 

In 2014, Piers became the editor-at-large of the U.S operation of the Mail Online’s website. 

Piers now writes several columns a week as well as a weekly column for the Mail on Sunday Event magazine.

He also has added to his bank balance by hosting his own shows like Piers Morgan Life Stories and Serial Killer with Piers Morgan.

The journalist has been co-hosting alongside Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain since 2015.

It was revealed that Piers was earning £1.1million a year for his position on the popular morning news show. 

In 2017, Piers responded to the BBC rich list by sharing his own salary with his twitter followers. 

Someone on Twitter asked: “Thing is though, for all this chat and judgement who would just openly tweet their salary right now? Go on, I dare you.”

Piers replied: “£22,500,000.”

In his personal life, Piers married Marion Shallop in 1991 and the couple had three sons together. 

They divorced in 2008 and two years later Piers married for the second time to journalist Celia Walden and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2011. 

Outside of his successful career, Piers adds to his fortune by investing in property and owns a number of homes including two in Britain, a townhouse in West London and a countryside home in East Sussex where he grew up. 

He now also owns a home in Beverly Hills where he spends a lot of time with his family and it was thought that the property cost £5million.
