Food chain Popeyes operates more than 3,000 stores across the globe. To the delight of chicken fans in the UK, the first of the brand’s UK stores is expected to open later this year. The company said it will welcome customers to its first location by the end of 2021.
News of the chicken brand’s arrival to the UK will no doubt be met with fanfare by fast food lovers.
Popeyes was founded in New Orleans in 1972, and the chain is known for its chicken which is marinated for 12 hours in Louisiana seasonings.
In addition to serving up tasty meals, Popeyes arrival is also hoped to create a number of new jobs in the UK.
Elias Diaz Sese, co-founder of Popeyes UK, told PA: “The UK is such an exciting market and we think the authenticity of our brand and product is something customers here want to see.
“We think we will really benefit the communities we move in to.
“It’s difficult to say exactly what the scale will be right now, but we are looking to create hundreds of jobs in the restaurants and in the supply chain.”
When Popeyes comes to the UK, the chain also plans to offer takeaway and delivery services.
Where will Popeyes open in the UK?
A flagship Popeyes store could appear in London over the coming year.
As for elsewhere in the UK, Mr Sese said Popeyes is currently in talks over its first restaurant locations.
He said: “We can’t confirm anything yet but we are most probably looking at opening a flagship site in London.

“There are great locations for opening across the country and we are looking at our options right now.
“We are definitely looking at both busy city centre locations and neighbourhood high streets.”
Popeyes is planning to open 350 restaurants in the UK over the next 10 years.
Popeyes follows in the footsteps of other American food brands which have set up in the UK in recent years.
Fast-food chain Wendy’s has also recently announced plans to set up stores in the UK.
What will be on the menu?
At the moment, the menu Popeyes will bring to the UK is unclear, but many will be hopeful some of the brand’s popular US menu items will make it across the pond.
Popeyes is renowned for its fried chicken, and the chain’s US menu includes a range of Signature Chicken meals.
The chain also offers a range of boneless chicken meals, such as Tenders and their beloved Classic Chicken Sandwich.
In the US, a Cajun Flounder Burger is available, along with other seafood items like Cajun Crispy Shrimp and Cajun Crispy Surf and Turf.
The American menu also includes a range of delicious sides like Cajun Fries, Mashed Potatoes w/ Gravy and Red Beans and Rice.
