Princess Anne body language shows ‘closest’ relationship with ‘like-minded’ Prince Philip

Princess Anne: Expert discusses royal’s ceremonies

Princess Anne is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, 94, and Prince Philip. What does her body language show about her relationship with the royals?

Princess Anne has been a working royal since she was just 18-years-old.

Since then she has been a regular on the royal rota attending various engagements all over the world.

While Princess Anne is often at key events with various members of her family, body language expert Judi James claimed she could have the closest relationship with one in particular.

She explained the Princess Royal shows many traits similar to those of her father, Prince Philip.

“Stoic, hard-working, practical, out-spoken and challenging to meet, of all the Queen’s children, Princess Anne has always been both the closest and the most similar in terms of personality to her father Prince Philip,” Judi said.

“Like her father, Anne appears to be someone stoic and dependable but also unfussy and upbeat as a companion.”

Princess Anne may have taken a similar approach to her royal role as the Prince did, Judi continued.

“She is very much the chip off the old block as far as Philip is concerned,” she explained.

“Their body language throws up many more similarities, suggesting a very like-minded approach to life and being part of the Firm.”

Prince Philip has not been seen out very often since he officially retired in 2017.

However, Princess Anne’s similarities to her father could mean she has taken a similar role of Prince Philip when with the Queen.

Judi continued: “Her low-key, unfussy, immensely solid role in the Queen’s public life makes their relationship look similar in many ways to that between the Queen and her husband.

“Like her father, Anne appears to make the Queen laugh.

“Most poses between the two women suggest a shared sense of humour, bringing out a side of the Queen that we rarely get to glimpse.

“Also like Philip, Princess Anne often looks on the brink of a wry and slightly cynical smile.

“This more down-to-earth and even irreverent approach should be exactly what the Queen needs to keep her happy and grounded.”

The expert suggested Princess Anne will bring out a rare side of her mother like Prince Philip.

While the coronavirus pandemic means the royals have stepped out less often, previous outings of Princess Anne and the Queen have shown their bond.

Judi added: “In one photo, the pose is typical in the way that it shows the relaxed closeness between the mother and daughter, but also how much those bonds are based on some similar body language traits to those between the Queen and Prince Philip.

“Anne stands tall, looking around with the kind of steely, puckered brow expression of her father while the Queen stands close, looking interested and amused.”
