Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor has shared his concerns over PPE for his daughter, who is a GP, after she suffered mild coronavirus symptoms.

The 70-year-old musician’s daughter, Rory, 33, is a doctor based in West London and is still seeing patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Rory admitted: ‘Whenever I speak to Dad on the phone now, the first thing he asks about is my PPE.’

The GP said she had very mild symptoms of the coronavirus several weeks ago and since testing wasn’t available at the time, she self-isolated.

Revealing how her average working day has changed, Rory said she now takes lots of phone calls and video consultations and has to wear personal protective equipment when meeting patients in person.

The drummer’s daughter confessed that lockdown has been ‘difficult’ for her and her father as they have a ‘very close relationship and meet up regularly’.

Roger also revealed that his medically-trained child is often telling him to ‘take more vitamin D’ despite Rory admitting her father ‘is still incredibly healthy at 70’.

The Queen band member said: ‘I’ve learnt that a doctor should not treat members of their own family, but Rory gives me tips of course.

‘Whenever we speak, and we speak all the time these days, she tells me I need to take more vitamin D to strengthen my … whatever.

‘And we often talk about the garden I have here at home in Cornwall.’

The father and daughter interview comes after Queen teamed up with Adam Lambert to release a new version of hit track We Are the Champions to support frontline health workers.

Re-titled You Are the Champions, the song was recorded virtually between the UK and Los Angeles to honour those helping to fight the coronavirus.

Rory features in the song’s music video in her doctor’s uniform, while holding up lyrics for the tune.

Money raised from the single will go to the World Health Organisation’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, supported by the United Nations Foundation.
