'RHOP' Producers Weigh in on Karen Huger's Drama With Her Co-Stars: 'They Need To Be Fluent in Karen Huger'

Karen Huger makes it clear that none of her RHOP co-stars will “bully” her into choosing a side in the fight between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard. With Huger’s insistence to remain neutral, it’s caused further friction between her and her co-stars. But RHOP producers say the other women don’t make a true effort to understand Huger’s way of communicating.

The cast blast Karen Huger for being neutral; allege Huger tried setting the women up to reconcile

From the start, Huger refused to take sides in the fight between Dillard and Samuels. She made it clear that she did not agree that Samuels should have gotten physical with Dillard. But, Huger also blamed Dillard for contributing to the fight with her harsh words.

Dillard – nor her co-stars Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, or Wendy Osefo – were happy about Huger’s position. Things became even more contentious between Huger and her co-stars.

Huger invited the women to a party to show off her new wig collection. She insisted that Samuels would not be in attendance out of consideration for the cast’s feelings.

But Samuels informed Ashley Darby otherwise. Samuels attended the event, but came prior to the rest of the ladies. Per both Samuels and Huger, the plan was for Samuels to arrive and leave early so that she did not run into the other cast members.

Huger’s explanation was not good enough, as Dillard insisted that Huger asked her to also come early. This left Dillard and the cast to believe Huger intentionally asked Samuels and Dillard to arrive early at the same time.

‘RHOP’ producers say Karen Huger doesn’t always communicate clearly and her co-stars don’t understand her

Huger is infamous for explaining herself in a way that her co-stars feel voids her of taking accountability or apologizing. Even Andy Cohen confronted Huger during the season 5 reunion for “talking in circles” and not giving clear answers.

RHOP producers share similar sentiments as Cohen and admit they sometimes find it difficult to understand Huger. Particularly in the case of Huger’s wig party, they don’t believe Huger was honest about her intentions from the beginning.

“If she had just explained her position earlier on, it would not have caused that big pile-on at Robyn [Dixon]‘s engagement party,” Kemar Bassaragh explained in RHOP After Show, above. “I feel like that’s something Karen has to deal with outside, like always telling everyone up front how she feels.”

Josh Brown, Bravo’s Vice President of Current Production, agrees with Bassaragh. He says Huger’s issues with her castmates boils down to them understanding Huger’s language and “reading in between the lines.”

“I feel like it’s also that some of the other women maybe need to be better at being fluent in Karen Huger, because I think Karen, when she says things, she gives off certain signals in the way that she’s saying it or in the words that she chooses where you have to read between the lines,” Brown said.

He continued: “Even when we’re having conversations off-camera or if I’ve heard her speaking with Kemar or one of the other producers during parts of the year when they’re not filming, about just other random things, if you read between the lines on Karen, she is actually saying a lot; she just doesn’t overtly say it, and I think sometimes the women maybe need to pick up on that and read the tea leaves a little better.”
