We’ve finally reached that point in the year where we started to dig out our festive cheer and get our homes looking like Santa’s grotto.

From twinkling lights to the never ending task of hoovering up all the glitter, it’s time to spread some Christmas cheer. After this turbulent year, we think it’s definitely acceptable to embrace the merriments earlier and give yourselves some joy.

As usual we’ll see the Christmas tree’s being erected, lights hanging from the windows and inflatable snowmen start to greet us. However, this year there is a new character on the block. In the past couple of weeks Homebase has reported a 13,000 increase for Gonk’s, which are Nordic style gnomes and there’s one celebrity that is a big fan of them.

In recent weeks we’ve seen Stacey Solomon share her love and admiration for the wonderful decorations. We’re all used to seeing Stacey take to her Instagram to share various hack videos and tips to her 3.8million followers.

As of recent, the mum–of–three has been sharing all of her Christmas crafts and we’re obsessed with them all. This past weekend the gorgeous presenter shared how you can cut the costs and make these mini Gonks with some household items.

Firstly, you take an old pair of tights or even a sock (we all have odd ones lying around) and you simply cut it just underneath the heel.

Then you fill it with enough rice to make it have a nice round shape and then make a knot at the top. Using a piece of fabric, this can be from an old jumper, you cut a large triangle shape and then either using a glue gun or a few stitches, secure the sides together to create a cone. Stuff the inside of the cone so it is nice and full, this is the hat.

Once you have done this, you then pop the hat on top of the rice stuffed tights or sock and secure down with either glue or sew it in place. Then get yourself some fur, this can be from a rug or you can order this from eBay, cut another triangle and secure it in place between the hat and body.

Now it’s time for the finishing touch, the nose. You can use a pom pom or like Stacey you can cut a tea light in half and wrap it in another sock. Secure this on top of the furry beard against the hat and voila!

Another fan of the playful elves are none other than one of Stacey’s best friends Mrs Hinch. Over the week the hack queen shared a video on her Instagram story of her perfectly decorated home.

Within the video we saw cute stockings hanging up, beautiful colour coded baubles and some of these familiar elves standing around.
