This Total-Body, Two-Dumbbell Pump Session Will Help You Get You Fitter and Stronger

In this workout, you’re going to bulldoze your way through three separate, 10-minute ‘rep blocks’, with each block pairing an upper-body and lower-body movement. For your efforts, you’ll receive the dual benefits of a superior pump in the sun and an intense calorie burn.

Work continuously throughout each block, resting only as necessary to keep your form sharp. Then rest for 5 minutes between blocks. Simple.

“By working back and forth between upper-body and lower-body exercises, you’re forcing your heart into high gear to keep the blood circulating, maximize the calorie burn, and build your aerobic base,” says Men’s Health UK fitness editor Andrew Tracey.

“When you switch from one extremity to the other, the opposing muscle group also gets a good chance to rest, meaning you’ll be able to grind out more reps in the long run. As long as you’re fit enough to keep moving, obviously.”

BLOCK ONE x 10 Minutes

A1. Dumbbell push press x 5 reps

Lift a pair of dumbbells onto your shoulders, palms facing inward (A). Dip at the knees and use your legs to help (B) press both dumbbells overhead. If you’re working with a single dumbbell, alternate arms each set.

A2. Forward Lunge x 10 reps (total)

Standing tall, grab a set of dumbbells and hold them with straight arms by your sides (A). Keeping your chest up at all times, take a long step forward with one leg, bending your front knee until the back knee touches the ground (B). Stand up explosively, pause and repeat with the other leg. If you’re woking with a single ‘bell, switch hands each set.

BLOCK TWO x 10 Minutes

B1. Dumbbell Bent-Over Row x 5 reps

Hinge at the hips until your chest is parallel to the floor, dumbbells hanging at your shins (A). Maintaining a flat back, row both dumbbells towards your torso (B), squeeze your shoulder blades together and lower under control to the start. For one ‘bell, lean the non working hand on a wall and alternate sides each set.

B2. Dumbbell Deadlift x 10 reps

With your dumbbells on the floor just outside your feet, hinge down and grip them with a flat back and neutral spine (A). Engage your lats and stand upright, squeezing your glutes at the top (B). Your arms should be hanging straight throughout this movement. For one ‘bell, alternate sides each round, squeeze your non working hand and keep your torso upright.

BLOCK THREE x 10 Minutes

C1. Dumbbell Floor Press x 5 reps

Grab your dumbbells and lay on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the ground. Press the weights above you, locking out your elbows (A). Lower them slowly until your upper arms are resting on the floor (B) close to your side. Pause before repeating. For one ‘bell, alternate sides each set.

C2. Dumbell Front rack squat x 10 reps

Stand up, clean the dumbbells onto your shoulders and take a deep breath (A). Now, drive your hips back and sink down into a squat, your thighs parallel to the floor (B). Drive upward explosively, and go again for nine more reps. Hold a single bell in the same position, alternating shoulders each round.

This 8-Shade Nude Shoe Collection Is Bringing More Inclusivity To Footwear

Any Black or brown beauty lover can tell you that nude shades are not created equally. For decades, “nude” was really just a catch-all for varying shades of beige. Fortunately, in recent years, the industry has become more inclusive as women of color demand more diversity from companies, with many taking it a step further and launching their own beauty brands. But that notorious lack of variety isn’t just limited to foundation shades — it can also be found in other areas, like lingerie and footwear. Christian Louboutin is working to change that with the Christian Louboutin Nudes collection. Launched in 2013 with five shades, the collection recently expanded from seven to eight shades.

“Since its conception in 2013, the Nudes collection has embodied the ever-present idea of diversity in Christian Louboutin’s designs,” the brand said. “The collection, which originally launched with five shades, has steadily evolved to become an ode to inclusivity, a core part of Louboutin’s values. By imagining a shoe that is truly flesh-colored for all skin tones, the designer was one of the first to create a range of nude styles that become a seamless extension of the leg.”

In addition to the new eight-shade women’s shoe collection, the range has grown to include handbags, and now, for the first time ever, a selection of men’s Nude styles. This year’s iteration of the collection includes two unisex models: Pool Stud, a leather pool slide, and Louis Junior, a satin sneaker. The Nudes collection is currently available online, and in mid-July, it will also land exclusively at a new boutique in rue Saint-Honoré in Paris.

Back in February, the iconic shoe designer hosted the ultimate footwear fête in Paris, where he unveiled L’Exhibition[iste], the largest-ever exhibition dedicated to his legendary work. Janelle Monáe, Karlie Kloss, Diane von Furstenberg, and a host of other celebs attended the exhibit opening, which took place at the Palais de la Porte Dorée museum.

This Morning’s Dr Ranj Singh admits he has cried with parents of kids who are dying of coronavirus – The Sun

DR Ranj Singh has opened up on the harrowing detail of his work on the NHS front line amid the coronavirus pandemic.

This Morning viewers will have seen less of the Strictly Come Dancing star during the global health crisis, as he focusses on his role as a medic in a London Accident and Emergency department.

Last year, the 40-year-old told how he had completed his final shifts at St George's Hospital, and has since moved on to a Children's A and E ward.

He told Mirror Online of the "devastating" deaths he had witnessed – and how his role was as much to support their grieving parents, too.

Dr Ranj said: "We’ve had children in intensive care, some because of coronavirus, and some have sadly passed away.

"The loss of a child is never easy, you can never prepare for it, and the impact on families is devastating."

He added: "People don’t realise that doctors and nurses are still human and very much affected by losing a child.

"I carry it with me, and question whether there was anything else I could have done.

"I have cried with parents. One of the most powerful things we can do as medics is show our humanity, we are in this together.

"Last week I hit a wall, I was feeling sad, my legs felt like lead, and I desperately missed connecting with people."

He then added how he "had a little cry" after feeling "pants" the week before.

The medical expert isn't the only famous face in the NHS to speak out about the struggles of their role as the airborne virus took hold.

Former Love Island star Dr Alex George admitted he goes home in tears following some particularly tough shifts.

Meanwhile Emily Andre, who is supporting The Sun's Who Cares Wins appeal, has told us how NHS staff are scared and stressed but "overwhelmed with kindness" from the British public.

What to wear this weekend: FEMAIL picks out monochrome

What to wear this weekend: FEMAIL picks out the best monochrome pieces

  • FEMAIL’s fashion editor picks out monochrome as her new go-to fashion choice
  • Dinah said she began lockdown in luxury pyjamas and then went to gym wear
  • She advised wearing a chic black and white skirt which is her style default look

SKIRTS MATTER AGAIN

I began lockdown in luxury pyjamas. Mine were from Liberty and cost more than the rest of my wardrobe put together.

Then I went through a gymwear phase. Why not be comfortable, especially with my expanding waistline that’s part pregnancy, part proximity to the fridge?

Next came fancy tops and blouses with eye-catching collars and statement sleeves to up my Zoom game.

But just as I am getting used to this, lockdown is lifting. I need to gradually shift back to normality, and my bottom half now needs to be covered at all times, too.

FEMAIL’s fashion editor Dinah Van Tulleken picks out monochrome as her new go-to in lockdown

CHIC BLACK & WHITE

My solution is ‘monochrome’ — which is how to describe black and white if you want to sound like you’re on trend. It is a style default.

When all else fails, this won’t, so it hits the sartorial sweet spot we’re after right now.

It’s never ‘so last year’. It makes a statement without being ostentatious. Karl Lagerfeld once said ‘black and white always look modern, whatever that word means’.

EVERYDAY MINIMALISM

Sure, you need to go bold and bright occasionally, but we don’t have too many special occasions coming up, and for daily wear you can’t beat something this simple.

I’m biased as I’ve always been afraid of colour, so I’m delighted with the timing of this trend.

Minimalists, make the most of it.

GO FOR A BOLD PATTERN

You can construct an outfit from individual pieces that are each either black or white, but I prefer to mix items with black and white patterns.

Polka dots, stripes or gingham, like the skirt I’m wearing here, are big this season.

You’ll looked pulled together with minimum effort and, let’s be honest, we’re all a bit out of practice!

This Morning’s Eamonn and Ruth vow to strip off on Sunday after nudists appear on This Morning – The Sun

THIS Morning's Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langford left viewers baffled while interviewing a nudist couple on the ITV show today.

The presenters didn't know where to look while chatting to Georgia and Luke, who appeared on the show completely naked from their home.

Ahead of the segment, Eamonn cheekily asked Ruth what she had planned for the weekend – and if she would also be stripping.

He said: "What are you doing on Sunday?"

Ruth replied: "On Sunday… I've very very busy on Sunday."

Eamonn added: "Do you fancy taking your clothes off on Sunday? It's all the range!"

Eamonn later explained the meaning behind his cheeky comment before introducing Georgia and Luke to the show.

He explained: "British Naturism are encouraging people to bare all for what is called The Great British Take Off. They're trying to do that to raise money for the British Heart Foundation because lots of people are comfortable with getting their kit off and being more natural."

Georgia and Luke went on to discuss how they're embracing nudism during lockdown.

Georgia said: "I think being at home at the moment is great. It's a safe environment for anyone to try it or if you're worried about other people. My advice is to give it a go. You're not going to lose anything."

However, some viewers couldn't quite believe what they were seeing.

One wrote on Twitter: "This nudist couple on This Morning. I thought I was the only one who enjoys being free!"

Watch This Guy Try To Break a 30-Second Pushup 'Record'—For the Third Time

Vlogger Stan Browney is giving his third attempt to pump out as many pushups he can in 30 seconds, shooting for an unofficial YouTube record. Browney started the pushup challenge when he shot a video of himself attempting to do the most pushups possible in 30 seconds, claiming he broke a ‘world record’ (which was not sanctioned by any governing body, for the record), and created the the #30secondschallenge.

He challenged his viewers to beat his initial ‘record’ of 47 pushups, and someone did, clocking in 50 pushups. So he tried the challenge again, and knocked out 51 pushups with ‘perfect’ form, and 53 with ‘decent’ form. But the record of 53 mediocre pushups in 30 seconds was again beaten by one of his followers. So of course, Browney attempted to beat up the ante again.

He attempted to challenge on both rock and grassy surfaces, and “After doing this challenge more than 20 times in 24 hours, my palms were on fire,” Browney says in the video.

He settles to keep trying on the grass, and hits 53 reps, which ties his previous record. Knowing it’s not good enough, and tries again… but only reps out 53 again.

“I was too slow every time I tried it,” he says.

So he’s tied the ‘record,’—but then announces he’s found someone else that claims to have repped out 55 pushups in 30 seconds. However, the video was shot at a bad angle…so Browney calls out this new challenger to re-film, and he plans to attempt to do 55 reps during another video.

The saga between YouTubers continues. But if you’re setting out to take on any type of speed challenge on your own, remember that your form should be of the utmost priority. That mean core and glutes engaged, full extension elbow lockout—more here.

Anyone can flail around on the floor and claim to have pumped through as many reps as possible—but in a real record-setting scenario, a judge would be on hand to make sure every movement is up to snuff. Even if your ‘record’ won’t ever make any type of list, your biggest focus should be to avoid cheating yourself.
