Why Mallory from Love Life looks so familiar

One of the biggest draws of the HBO Max series Love Life is the incredible performance of Sasha Compère, who plays Mallory on the series. Compère does an amazing job of bringing the character to life, but it’s far from the only one that she has played in her career. If you have been trying to figure out just why Mallory seems so familiar, it’s because Compère has quite the list of acting credits under her belt.

Per her bio at TBS, Compère is a native of Detroit, Michigan and is of Haitian descent. She has more than 20 acting credits on her resume, per her IMDb page, and has been on the acting scene for quite some time with her first listed credit dating back to 2011 when she appeared on an episode of The Electric Company. That was only the start of what is proving to be a prolific and successful career.

You may have seen Mallory from Love Life in one of these other TV shows

Since appearing on The Electric Company, Compère has landed some pretty big roles. She has been in several sketches for College Humor, and has had guest parts on shows like Rizzoli & Isles, Crowned, Community, Young & Hungry, The Real O’Neals, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and Reverie.

Compère has also had major roles on TV shows, notably on Miracle Workers, The Dead Girls Detective Agency, and now, Love Life. Her film roles include Coming of Age Films, Ad Astra, Uncorked, and the upcoming Seven Days.

Compère’s star is clearly on the rise. She has worked hard for her career and wants others to also follow their dreams. “Stay humble and positive, and the universe will open the world to you one day,” wrote the Love Life star in a 2018 Instagram post.

Netflix’s Space Force: Why is General Naird’s wife Maggie in prison? – The Sun

SPACE Force is Netflix's new sitcom based on Donald Trump's idea for an interstellar military branch. The comedy, which debuted on May 29 on Netflix, sees Steve Carrell plays General Mark R. Naird, a pilot given the job of leading the new branch of the US Armed Forces.

  • The best series on Netflix
  • The best films on Netflix

Viewers have been left with many questions about the series, but the most pressing is why General Naird's wife Maggie, played by Lisa Kudrow, is in prison.

Why is General Naird’s wife Maggie in prison?

The show begins with General Mark R. Naird, played by Carrell, wife Maggie Naird (Lisa Kudrow) and daughter Erin (Diana Silvers) in Washington D.C.

The action — and mystery — begins when Mark tells Maggie the family must move to Colorado for his new role at Space Force.

Maggie is not happy about the move, and this is the last we see of her outside of jail.

The series jumps forward a year, and the family is now in Colorado.

Maggie's crime, however, remains a mystery. Viewers have been left to speculate what it is that landed her in prison.

At one point, it was revealed Maggie committed a "very serious" crime and would be banged up for 40 to 60 years.

Some viewers have speculated this length of sentence would suggest a drug crime or murder.

Many believe her crime might be a result of the family's unexpected move to Colorado, given her adverse reaction to the news.

The end of the season sees Maggie break out of prison with the help of her lover, a prison guard named Louise Papeleo (Carolyn Wilson). She is saved by General Naird, and the family is briefly reunited.

A season two has not been confirmed by the producers, but if it goes ahead the questions surrounding Maggie's incarceration may be answered.

The Wrap asked Space Force co-creator Greg Daniels about the unanswered mystery.

Why 'Outlander' Star Sophie Skelton Says She and Richard Rankin are Like Brianna and Roger

Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin portray Brianna and Roger Mackenzie on Outlander. The young couple has been through plenty of challenges, but their relationship continues to grow.  When talking about their on and off-screen chemistry, Skelton admitted that she and Rankin are a lot like Brianna and Roger in real life.

What is Brianna and Roger’s relationship like on ‘Outlander’?

As Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) daughter, Brianna is both intelligent and strong. Brianna first meets Roger on season 2 of Outlander, when she visits Scotland with Claire.

The two spark a connection and become good friends over time. After Brianna goes back to Boston, Roger comes to visit her, confesses his love, and proposes. From there onward, as Brianna and Roger begin a complicated romantic relationship.

The couple doesn’t always see eye to eye, and they are each quick to anger. But through all their fights, they grow to understand one another better. And in Season 5, after all the brutal and life-altering situations they face together, Brianna and Roger get married and finally come to a place in their relationship where they know that they can count on one another for anything.

But of course, that doesn’t stop them from poking fun at each other every now and then. The young MacKenzies share a sweet and loving repartee that proves just how comfortable they are in their marriage.

Skelton opens up Brianna’s growth on ‘Outlander’

In a recent interview with Golden Derby, Sophie Skelton talked about Brianna’s growth and personal struggles on Season 5 of Outlander. She also revealed that she has great relationships with everyone on the show.

“I feel very fortunate that I get to work with, and one of the rare ones in the cast who, I feel has gotten to work with pretty much everyone which is great because so many characters are intertwined,” said Skelton. “It’s very difficult to actually get them all together. It’s just been really fun.”

Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin get on each other’s nerves like brother and sister

When discussing Brianna and Roger’s growth on Season 5 of Outlander, Skelton told Golden Derby that the characters’ marriage is unlike Claire and Jamie’s. But despite being different, she explained how their relationship still represents a meaningful love story.

“I think one thing I love about their relationship, what the show does so well, is show you two very different lead relationships,” she said. “With Bree, they show a very flawed very real version of relationships where you can fall out, and you can have things go terribly, and you don’t always act tremendously well. But I think this season they’ve really found their feet in the relationship and found a way to grow stronger from their arguments as opposed to growing apart which is great.”

Skelton also compared Brianna and Roger’s chemistry to her relationship with co-star Richard Rankin. She revealed that just like their characters, the two actors have grown as friends behind the scenes.

“You know, Richard and I, it’s a very similar sort of relationship off-screen in terms of, you know we bicker and we’re kind of like the brother and sister that get on each other’s nerves a lot of the time,” said Skelton. “But I think that’s great because I think that really seeps into the into the screen version where actually you can show that.”

Through most of their public appearances together and their social media posts, it’s clear to see that Skelton and Rankin share a special bond. It will be interesting to see where the actor’s on and off-screen relationship grows when Outlander returns for Season 6.

We now know why people don’t want to work with Bruce Willis

From The Fifth Element to The Sixth Sense, actor Bruce Willis continues to deliver memorable performances after an impressive 40 years in show business. Yet while the 65-year-old star remains popular with fans, he has also developed quite the negative reputation among his Hollywood collaborators. Apparently he’s argumentative. He’s uncooperative. He’s demanding. And as director Antoine Fuqua told the BBC, he’s an all-around “pain in my ass.”

“We just didn’t get along,” Fuqua said in 2014. He and Willis worked together on 2003’s Tears of the Sun. “We got along off camera, but shooting [Tears Of The Sun] we just didn’t get along. Some men don’t gel when it comes to work — you have different work ethics, different opinions, different points of views, different methods of filmmaking—  and we didn’t gel. Off camera we were friends — Bruce is great — but we just don’t get along when it comes to work, and that’s pretty much it.”

But Fuqua wasn’t the first — or the last — person in the industry to find Demi Moore’s former husband less than agreeable. In fact, some of Hollywood’s most legendary creators have publicly shared their strained experiences with Willis on set, painting an unflattering image of an actor with whom few wish to work.

Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd clashed on the set of 'Moonlighting'

While Die Hard launched Bruce Willis’ film career, Moonlighting gave the future movie star his big break. Yet while the ABC drama dominated the ratings from 1985 to 1989, Willis and co-star Cybill Shepherd’s on-screen chemistry sparked behind-the-scenes fights that made filming somewhat uncomfortable.

“It’s hard to do a show and keep your relationships with everybody. I remember at one point in the show, it had gotten to where we just hated each other,” Shepherd told Entertainment Weekly in 2005. “It was a very volatile show anyway, but that’s also what made it great.”

Producer Jay Daniel added that he’d often be the “referee” who would keep the bickering stars on task. “Everybody knows there was friction between the two of them on the stage,” he said in an interview with Moonlighting Strangers. “In the beginning, Bruce was just a guy’s guy. Let’s just say he evolved. Over the years, he went from being the crew’s best friend and just being grateful for the work and all of that to realizing that he was going to be a movie star and wanting to move on. Part of that was because of his strained relationship with Cybill. That sometimes made the set a very unpleasant place to be.”

While the final product remains something both leads are proud of today, Willis revealed an air that made him increasingly difficult to work with as his success continued to grow.

Kevin Smith said working with Bruce Willis on 'Cop Out' was 'soul-crushing'

Before filmmaker Kevin Smith met Bruce Willis, the Jay and Silent Bob creator regarded the actor as his hero. When Smith acted alongside Willis in 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, mutual admiration developed and the two vowed to work together again. However, when Smith signed on to direct Willis and comedian Tracy Morgan in 2010’s Cop Out, all illusions flew out the window because, had it not been for Morgan, Smith suggests he “might’ve killed myself or someone else in the making of that movie” (per the Daily Mail).

“It was difficult,” Smith explained on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. “I’ve never been involved in a situation like that where, one component is not in the box at all. It was f**kin’ soul-crushing. I mean, a lot of people are gonna be like, ‘Oh, you’re just trying to blame the movie on him.’ No, but I had no f**king help from this dude whatsoever.”

“Where was the happy-go-lucky charmer who made Maddie Hayes fall so madly in love?” Smith added in his book, Tough Sh*t (per Flavorwire). “There were no staff limbo parties like there’d been at the Blue Moon Detective Agency whenever Bruce was around… He turned out to be the unhappiest, most bitter, and meanest emo-b***h I’ve ever met at any job I’ve held down. And mind you, I’ve worked at Domino’s Pizza.” What an awful experience!

Sylvester Stallone branded Bruce Willis 'greedy and lazy' after a paycheck dispute

When assembling his team for The Expendables 3, actor Sylvester Stallone asked Bruce Willis to return to the franchise. However, a source told The Hollywood Reporter in 2013 that the two legends had a falling-out because Stallone wouldn’t meet Willis’ money demands. While Willis was offered $3 million for four consecutive days of work on location in Bulgaria, the Sin City star refused to commit. “He said he’d drop out unless he got $4 million,” the source claimed. “A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no.”

Stallone shocked fans when he tweeted, “WILLIS OUT . . . HARRISON FORD IN!!!! GREAT NEWS!!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!” Stallone later added Willis’ demands were “GREEDY AND LAZY . . . A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE.” Willis, on the other hand, brushed it off when he told Express that “explosions are one of the most boring parts of my job,” and he likes “to earn lots of money” no matter the project.

However, a year later, Stallone announced the end of the feud on Twitter. “It sounded like it got personal and I’m sorry it did sound that way,” Stallone told Express. “But it was actors talking and things move on. I think Bruce Willis is a great guy and he does fantastically entertaining films and when he nails it he nails it big time.” Perhaps these action heroes will reunite on-screen again after all.

Marvel: Why Was Bucky So Surprised When He Met Spider-Man for the First Time?

Going back and analyzing when The Avengers met one another during the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline can still bring some interesting insights into how they felt about one another. Initial impressions at first meetings can always be different from how things turn out once thrown into a mission to save the world.

One can say that about Bucky Barnes and Spider-Man, a team-up that nobody really talks about too much. They really are as far apart as one could imagine in terms of age and experience. Nevertheless, when they first met in Captain America: Civil War, things really went wrong.

Maybe many will consider the first meeting between Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson the most memorable of all. Even so, that Spidey/Bucky meeting does bring back some chortles.

How did Bucky Barnes and Spider-Man get along at first meeting?

Fans have to go back four years to when The Avengers split up into two warring factions to see when Bucky first encountered Spider-Man. Of course, Bucky was acting as The Winter Soldier and had his memories restored about his time with Steve Rogers in the ’40s.

Prior to Civil War, though, Bucky had not yet met all The Avengers. His first meeting with Spider-Man was not a friendly one. It was during the throes of battle, a scene posted on Reddit recently by a user.

The above still shot is a tad funny because the original thread starter suggested Bucky was laughing when first catching sight of Spider-Man. Many will remember Bucky and Sam Wilson were running and happened to spot Spider-Man crawling through an upper airport walkway.

Fighting had already broken out in this setting, complete with Captain America fighting War Machine and Ant-Man battling Natasha Romanoff.

What did Bucky and Sam say when spotting Spider-Man?

It was Bucky who caught sight of Spider-Man first and yelled out “who is that”? Sam, as his usual droll self, replied “everyone has a gimmick now.”

Yes, talk about the most awkward first meeting. Within minutes, Spidey and Bucky were eye-to-eye after the former knocked Sam aside. Just as Bucky was going to use his metal arm to knock Spider-Man senseless, the latter intervened. Spider-Man quips to Bucky: “You have a metal arm? That is awesome dude!”

No doubt Bucky was a bit shocked to hear a squeaky teen voice emanate out of Spider-Man, a superhero he never had interacted with prior. Little did he know he would eventually work alongside him and the others to take on a greater cause when Thanos became a threat.

What makes that first meeting even more hilarious is neither Bucky nor Sam apparently knew how web-slinging worked either.

Spider-Man using his webs to tie down Bucky and Sam

With each taking swipes at each other during the above fight sequence, Spider-Man manages to use his web-slinging abilities to tie Bucky and Sam to the pavement. At one point, Sam yells out: “That’s coming out of you?”, proving the first-time interaction with Spider-Man is usually perplexing.

Then Sam releases one of his flying weapons from his Falcon suit, flinging Spider-Man out a glass window in the terminal. Bucky, lying on the ground, utters “you couldn’t have done that earlier?“

As many laughs as this sequence brings, it was a rare opportunity to see how first-time superhero meetings frequently never go over well. Even if there was no civil war underway, egos might have made a meeting between Bucky and Spidey a bit tense.

With such a huge compendium of superheroes besides, seeing them meet and slowly become friends is sometimes interesting to behold. An easy argument could be made none of them would have formed an emotional bond with each other later without Thanos threatening civilization.

Why Rapper Dave East Was Arrested

Rapper Dave East has been noted as one of the greatest talents in hip hop to look out for. He’s also been praised for his acting chops, having starred in the hit Hulu series Wu-Tang, the rap supergroup. East typically keeps a low-profile but the rapper is making headlines after being taken into custody for unlawful possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct during a traffic stop.

Who is Dave East?

East started rapping in 2010. The Harlem, New York-born talent sold drugs simultaneously to support himself while he pursued music and independently released mixtapes. He received widespread attention after his eighth mixtape, Black Rose, was released in 2014. Rapper Nas was impressed and signed East to his record label, Mass Appeal Records, a subdivision of Def Jam Records.

After signing with Nas, East was selected to appear on the 2016 cover of XXL Magazine as part of the publication’s Freshman Class. The much-anticipated issue puts a spotlight on upcoming rappers and urban acts believed to be the next big thing. His mixtape Kairi Chanel was released the same year and debuted at the No. 38 spot on the US Billboard 200. His first debut studio album, Extended Play, Paranoia: A True Story, was released in 2017 and peaked at No. 9 on the US Billboard 200.

East has expanded his resume outside of music by acting. He started in 2017 by appearing as himself on shows like BET’s Being Mary Jane alongside Gabrielle Union – and a guest appearance on The Breaks. He also had a supporting role in the 2019 Netflix film Beats as “Mister Ford.” His biggest role was part of the Hulu series Wu-Tang: An American Saga, where he starred as rapper Method Man.

Dave East arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana

East has had trouble with the law before. He served a prison sentence before his career took off and during his stint, he converted to become a Muslim. He’s been open about how religion has centered him and provided a foundation of discipline that he says he lacked previously. Having a daughter has also had a positive impact on his life.

Unfortunately, East has found himself in more legal trouble. TMZ reported on May 22 that he was pulled over failing to signal a turn in the Queens section of New York. Upon the stop, cops claim they smelled a strong stitch of marijuana as they approached the driver’s side. Cops requested identification and the driver complied but the publication noted that East nor the other passenger of the SUV provided ID.

Law enforcement told TMZ that seven bags of marijuana were found in the SUV. East and the other passenger were taken into custody but not the driver. Both were cited with violations of disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The rapper’s attorney, Stacey Richman, told the media outlet that she does not believe East has been charged, nor does she believe will it result in a criminal conviction as both disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of marijuana are not crimes in the state of New York.

As to why the driver was not taken into custody, the reasoning is unknown. The arrest took place just hours before East was scheduled to attend a funeral for a close friend.

Gigi Hadid Explains Why She’s Never Had Plastic Surgery

Gigi Hadid went live on Instagram with Maybelline’s Global Makeup Artist Erin Parsons this afternoon to walk through a natural, Zoom-friendly makeup look. Hadid spoke candidly on the Live about her beauty routine, plastic surgery rumors, and how her face has changed since the start of her pregnancy. The model is expecting her first child with Zayn Malik in the fall.

“People think I do fillers on my face and that’s why my face is round,” Hadid said while penciling in her brows. “I have had cheeks since I was born. Especially fashion month— when I was already a few months preggo, you know?”

Parsons chimed in that she was wondering how Hadid’s face would change now that she’s nearly six months pregnant. “I have the cheeks already so there’s not a lot to fill in,” the model quipped.

Hadid then shut down any rumors about plastic surgery. “For those wondering I have never put or injected anything into my face. I am so happy for everyone to do whatever they want that makes them happy and makes them feel more comfortable and good about themselves. Me personally, it terrifies me,” she said. “I feel like am too much of a control freak. I’m like, what if it goes wrong?”

You can watch the entire Live makeup tutorial below:

For Hadid, makeup is a tool she uses to enhance her natural features. “I think that people are so fast to do permanent things to their face. I’ve loved being like, I accept myself for how it is. It doesn’t mean I don’t have insecurities sometimes, but for special occasions you can sculpt your nose a little bit or do whatever with makeup,” she said. “Makeup is such a beautiful tool to help you feel your best for special moments but also to accept your beautiful face for exactly how God made it…and your mama and dada.”

To sculpt her cheeks and nose, Hadid used the Maybelline City Bronzer in shade 100 during the tutorial. “I do have a round face so it just helps like, hone the warmness into the center so the center is highlighted. I lightly go under my chin also because I have a round face,” she added.

'Survivor 40': Why Did the Castaways Name Their Merged Tribe Koru?

In Survivor 40: Winners at War, the former champs named their merged tribe, “Koru.” Because the episode included a battle-back challenge, an immunity challenge, and strategic gameplay before Tribal Council, there wasn’t enough time to show the contestants coming up with their new name. Adam Klein revealed why he suggested Koru in a Reddit Ask Me Anything.

History of the merged tribes

Around the halfway point, the remaining castaways from two or three separate tribes merge into one and live at the same camp for the rest of the game.

Every season, excluding Palau, has included a merge, previously called a merger, and they are usually given a feast, new buffs, and a banner as well as paint to name their new tribe.

RELATED: ‘Survivor 40: Winners at War’: Fans Are Calling for the Edge of Extinction to End at the Merge

The merge signifies the halfway point. It also marks the beginning of an individual game as immunity is only awarded to a person, or one male and one female contestant.

Usually, the first person eliminated after the merge becomes the initial member of the jury, who collectively votes for the winner out of the three, sometimes two, final castaways.

Who made the merge in ‘Survivor 40: Winners at War’

In Survivor 40: Winners at War, Jeremy Collins, Denise Stapley, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, and Tony Vlachos from Dakal made the merge, alongside former Sele tribemates Nick Wilson, Wendell Holland, and Michele Fitzgerald.

Additionally, expansion tribe Yara, consisting of Sarah Lacina, Sophie Clarke, Adam Klein, and Ben Driebergen, went on an immunity run after eliminating Rob Mariano and skated to the merge.

While the former Dakal tribemates gave off the impression they were staying strong, Tony was playing double agent and more closely aligned with his Cops-R-Us partner Sarah and her new Yara allies.

RELATED: Will ‘Survivor: Winners at War’ Make History With the Largest Jury Ever?

Additionally, Tyson Apostol won his way back into the game and joined everyone for their merge feast. When it came time to figure out who to eliminate, Sophie targeted Wendell to weaken Jeremy.

She perceived the recent winner as Jeremy’s “man,” and thought the Cambodia champ held a lot of power in the camp. Her allies went along with her plan, and Wendell went to the Edge of Extinction.

Because of the twist this season, every eliminated person became a member of the jury, excluding Sandra Diaz-Twine, who quit.

Adam Klein reveals the meaning behind Koru

In many seasons, the castaways are shown painting their new banner and figuring out a name for their tribe. However, most likely due to the amount of content they had to jam into the episode, viewers didn’t get to see the Winners at War contestants naming their tribe.

In a Reddit Ask Me Anything, Adam Klein revealed he came up with Koru, making him “two out two” on picking names for merge tribes. According to the Millennials vs. Gen X champ, he learned from Jeremy that his necklace, which consists of a Māori art spiral shape called a koru, symbolized “new beginnings, growth, and strength.”

RELATED: ‘Survivor 40: Winners at War’: Fans Think Adam Is the First Vote Out After the Merge

The message spoke to Adam because of his experience moving on and “continuing to grow” after his mother passed away in 2016, only two hours after he returned home from filming Season 33.

Therefore, he proposed the name for everyone else, hoping it “would bring me closer with Jeremy.” Even though it did not help build an alliance with his former Sele tribemate, the other castaways enjoyed the name and went with it.

Why Some 'Riverdale' Fans Say Betty Was 'Legit Terrifying' This Season

Betty (Lili Reinhart) had a lot on her plate in Season 4 of Riverdale. But after being cleared for Jughead’s fake murder, she continues to give off a sinister vibe. Betty didn’t let her dark side loose this season, but some fans still found her terrifying.

Betty’s been through a lot on ‘Riverdale’

Throughout the past four seasons of Riverdale, Betty has endured a fair share of drama. Her father, Hal Cooper (Lochlym Munro) turned out to be the Black Hood serial killer. Her mom and sister joined a sinister cult and tried to induct her.

Betty also found out that she and Jughead share a half-brother, Charles (Wyatt Nash). And she discovered that she’s related to the weird and murderous Blossom family.

In season 4, Betty seamlessly fakes her boyfriend Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) death, just to uncover another deadly mystery. And toward the end of the season, she cheats on Jughead and betrays Veronica (Camila Mendes) by making out with Archie (KJ Apa).

She actually suggested killing Mr. Honey

With all that Betty’s been through on Riverdale, it may feel like she’s developed a more dangerous side. But as fans may remember, in the premiere episode of the series, she donned a black wig and revealed Dark Betty right off the bat.

From the way genetics work on Riverdale, Betty is presumed to have inherited some of her family’s serial killer instincts. She’s always the toughest person in a room. And while her friends get more emotional about the murder and mayhem around them, Betty usually handles these deadly situations in stride.

And in the season finale, another creepy moment hints that she has budding killer instincts. When the kids try to figure out how to stop Mr. Honey (Herr Smith) from ruining their senior year, Betty nonchalantly suggests they kill him.

Why ‘Riverdale’ fans are terrified of Betty

After seeing Betty suggest Mr. Honey be killed, some Riverdale fans think she’s becoming one of the show’s most ominous characters. One fan called Betty “legit terrifying,” even in the scenes depicting her reality.

“Idk man,” the fan shared on Reddit. “Out of the four of them, Betty scares me. Jug and Archie are tied second, and Veronica (surprisingly- considering her family) seems the least likely to go full dark. Betty shouldn’t be going to college, IMO. She needs to go to a mental health facility out of town. Far away from Riverdale.”

A few fans theorized that Betty’s darkness is a result of hypnosis. Some further suggested that under this spell, she might be working with her brother Charles to make the voyeur videos.

“We did see Charles hypnotize Betty in the guise of getting rid of Dark Betty,” a Reddit fan wrote. “She tried hypnotizing herself and then broke her mirror. That still hasn’t been explained. If it turns out that Charles is a bad guy, then it is very possible that this will come back into play. Especially if Charles is the one who’s behind the tapes, he might be getting the information from a hypnotized Betty.”

Some fans pointed out that Betty has always had a darkness within her. So they think this new, more sinister side of hers has just been lying dormant.

“Betty is scary as hell. A lot of people forget – she has always been. It’s not really new,” one Redditor expressed. “Betty is known for threatening people to kill them, but until now [sic] it only happened when she was in rage, angry or extremely pissed. — My guess is: the transition from Nice Betty to Dark Betty has almost completed. Betty is now on the dark side. She’s now only one last step away from becoming a killer.”

Betty is definitely displaying her darker side, but it’s still not clear why. There are plenty of  Reddit theories to mull over, but ultimately, fans won’t know the real reason until Season 5 drops later this year.

Why Did Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles Break Up Before He Met Princess Diana?

Prince Charles and Princess Diana got engaged in 1981, but much of their courtship was over the phone as they only met in person a dozen times. After tying the knot, cracks began to show in their marriage and it wasn’t long before the public learned that they weren’t living a fairy tale.

But before he met Diana, Charles was dating the woman who is now his wife known then as Camilla Shand. The prince was smitten with her but she married another man. Read on to find out the reason why Charles and Camilla broke up in the first place.

How they met

Prince Charles met the now-Duchess of Cornwall through a mutual friend in 1970. They hit it off at a polo match and began seeing one another. Before Charles, Camilla was dating a retired British Army officer named Andrew Parker Bowles but their on-again-off-again relationship came to a halt when Andrew and Princess Anne got together. Yep, you read that correctly. Andrew was dating Charles’s sister while the prince was dating his ex.

In the book Diana, royal biographer Sarah Bradford said a friend of Camilla’s told her, “Princess Anne was in love with [Andrew], Camilla was in love with Andrew, Charles was in love with Camilla, Camilla was having some of it but she was also potty about Andrew–all this intrigue was going on.”

Why Prince Charles and Camilla broke up

By all accounts, Charles wanted nothing more than to continue his relationship with Camilla but when he was sent overseas with the Royal Navy, they split.

Charles was very upset to find out that while he was away, Camilla rekindled her romance with Andrew. It only added to his devastation when he learned a few months later that she and Andrew had gotten married.

Although Charles was head over heels for Camilla, he knew that he couldn’t have married her because she wasn’t from a sufficient aristocratic background which did not make her a proper suitor for the future king. Also, back then, the royals wanted the heir apparent to marry a virgin which Camilla was not.

When the public learned about their affair

Charles and Camilla had always remained in contact with one another and rumors of an affair began when he was married to Diana.

A raunchy conversation between the Prince of Wales and his mistress was recorded in the late ’80s and leaked to the public in 1993. The scandal became known as “Camillagate” or “tampongate.”

In the call, Charles can be heard saying, “Oh God. I’ll just live inside your trousers or something. It would be much easier!” To which Camilla responded, “What are you going to turn into, a pair of knickers? Oh, you’re going to come back as a pair of knickers.”

He then tells her, “Or, God forbid, a Tampax. Just my luck!”

The prince and Diana divorced in 1996, one year before her tragic death. On April 9, 2005, Charles married Camilla.
