A Place in the Sun presenter warns guests not to be ‘rude’ as they snub home
A Place in the Sun property expert Ben Hillman had a tough time trying to satisfy the demands of house-hunting guests in Spain.
In today's episode of the Channel 4 show (March 3) Michael and Helen were taken around five different villas near the town Llíria in Valencia.
Unfortunately, the retired couple couldn't find anything they liked within their budget of £125,000 and Ben asked them not to be "rude" before they'd even stepped inside the first home.
Michael and Helen, who had been together for 15 years, were looking for somewhere to settle in Spain to enjoy their retirement and with enough room for visiting family members – including their five grandchildren.
First off, Ben took them to Vilamarxant where the average price for a three-bedroom home is £140,000.
He managed to find a three-bedroom property on the market within their budget at £120,000, but right away Helen remarked it "looks a bit small".
"Well that's not the reaction I was hoping for!" said Ben in shock.
He pointed out the home came with heaps of land for growing vegetables and fruit trees, a "cracking" swimming pool, and a picturesque location of the countryside.

Helen seemed so unsure about the property it looked like she won't even go inside.
"I think it would be rude not to have a look," said Ben.
Inside, the rooms had tiled floors, a fireplace in the living room, and decent-sized bedrooms.
Michael didn't like it and immediately said: "I'm trying to envision our furniture in here and I just can't. There's no soul to it."
They also didn't like the lack of a hallway.

"It feels a bit weird coming off one room," said Helen.
Ben tried to tempt them with the kitchen, and while they agreed it was a nice space for cooking meals with home-grown vegetables, it was not enough to sway them.
"There's too much concrete and the house is a bit small," said Helen, giving her final verdict.
Ben took them around another four properties and only one caught their fancy – but it was slightly above their budget and they decided not to make an offer.
In the end, they returned to the UK to reconsider their options and perhaps raise their budget to find the property of their dreams.
