Below Deck has seen the departure of many crew members, including Heather Chase after she was fired for using a racial slur. Now comes the departure of Jessica Albert after she left the show for her health and was given just an hour to remove herself and her belongings from the ship. Captain Lee has addressed the departure of Jessica and how he felt after she left the ship, stating he felt upset and annoyed she didn’t say goodbye.
Jessica quit the Bravo reality show after admitting she was too exhausted to handle the job and wanted to focus on her health.
However, Jessica’s departure left her co-stars feeling upset as she avoided saying goodbye to nearly everyone on the crew.
Jessica was placed on service for charter, but she constantly felt as though she couldn’t keep up with the demands and fast-paced environment.
The awkward tensions between chief stew Heather and second stew Fraser Olender also left her feeling as if they were frustrated with her.
Jessica informed Heather first thing in the morning before her duties began: “I really, really whole-heartedly wanted to do this, but my body is just shutting down.”
Jessica added: “I could not anticipate how taxing this would be on my system. And my body is just not letting me do it.
“I’m really sorry. I hate to put you guys in a bad place. I have to go, obviously, I wanted to fulfil my end of the bargain.
“I’m leaving them pretty high and dry. I get it. But at the end of the day, I come first.”
Heather acknowledged where Jessica was coming from and the reasons as to why she wanted to leave, but bluntly replied: “Alright, you have one hour to pack.”
Captain Lee admitted seeing Jessica leave and not say goodbye to anyone on the team was a first for him.
As Jessica walked off the ship, Heather broke the news to Captain Lee: “She’s already walked her sweet a** off the yacht, she didn’t even give me 10 seconds.”
Shocked at Jessica’s carelessness and feeling hurt she left without a goodbye, Lee stated: “I don’t think I’ve ever had a crew member leave without saying something.
“Like ‘bye, f*** you, go to hell?’ I did expect more out of Jess than just this silent departure. This is as f***** up as a Georgia road blizzard.”
Captain Lee wasn’t the only one who was upset over Jessica’s departure, Wes O’Dell also felt the sting of her absence.
Feeling disappointed about the situation, he said: “Yeah, it sucks, she didn’t say goodbye or anything like that.
“[She] just dipped out, I wish she would have at least waved, acknowledged. Absolutely thought we had a connection. Still do.”
Heather has been another recent departure from the ship after she was sacked for using a racial slur against one of her crew-mates.
The episode saw the crew go out for dinner and drinks, which culminated in Heather screaming the phrase in public.
The following morning, Heather initially denied using the slur, but in the end, she owned up to it and apologised to Lindsey.
“You know how people are. 2021 is… it’s not 2002 anymore, it’s ok, I still love you, I’m just telling you to be careful,” Rayna Lindsey replied.
Below Deck is available to watch on Bravo.
