Billie Faiers and husband Greg confronted with pile of bricks as they check progress on £1.4m ‘dream home’

BILLIE Faiers and Greg Shepherd were confronted with a pile of bricks as they checked the progress on their £1.4 million "dream home" today.

Work on the mansion is now underway after the reality TV star and her husband were first refused planning permission last year.

In July 2020 a council officer raised concerns saying the couple's home would be the biggest house on the street and the increase in size from the original home would not be acceptable – despite the previous owner having planning permission to build two houses.

They also had reservations as to the style of the house being sympathetic to the surrounding area, which "would be eroded to the detriment of local character and spatial qualities."

Planning rows with neighbours ensued and resulted in several months of delays, but the celebrity couple are finally moving ahead with their huge transformation project.

And the couple are now regular visitors to the building site in Brentwood.

In photos taken earlier, The Mummy Diaries star Billie – who found fame on Towie – wore a pink visor jacket as she chatted to project managers and foremen working on site.

Greg also looked keen to get stuck in, wearing his own personalised visor and hard hat.

The pair are finally seeing their dream home being built from scratch and stood metres away from a pile of bricks after they demolished the previous home that stood on the land.

The couple decided to demolish the rundown house they had snapped up for £1.4 million, which was constructed in the 1920s, and are transforming it into a luxury modern mansion.

A drawing of how the property will look was unveiled on Brentwood Borough Council's website earlier this year, and revealed their plan to tear down the perimeter fence and install a huge front driveway, private gate access and front lawn.

The couple's plans show five bedrooms with the en-suite master bedroom having a huge dressing room.

Three of the other en-suite bedrooms will have massive walk-in wardrobes.

It's believed that Greg also wants a 'man cave' in the property, converting the original garage into a gym and games room, and there is to be a playroom for their children; Nelly, five, and two-year-old Arthur.

But it's been a long slog to see their dream come true as Billie previously said about their rocky welcome to the area: "We’ve not seen (any neighbours). But it’s just not a great start, is it?

"The house is so old, whoever was going to buy it was going to have to renovate.

"It’s been a very long journey already and it’s about to get even more pressurised once the builders start work."

Billie, who first found fame on ITV2 show The Only Way Is Essex, purchased the four-bedroom 1920s property for £1.4 million in January 2020.
