Bridgerton: Phoebe Dynevor blasted by Alex Jones for ‘ruining’ series ‘Only on episode 3!’
Bridgerton: Phoebe Dynevor slammed for ‘giving away’ plot
Phoebe Dynevor and Claudia Jessie appeared on The One Show to talk all things Bridgerton with Alex Jones and Amol Rajan. Unfortunately, the breakout Netflix star riled up the hosts by revealing a major bombshell about Daphne and the Duke.
Daphne Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor gave away one of the new Netflix series’ biggest twists to The One Show host Alex Jones this week.
Her appearance went out last night, Thursday January 14, potentially giving the game away for thousands of fans who haven’t finished the sultry period drama’s first season.
Dynevor began by summarising the diamond debutante’s unlikely courtship with the dashing Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset.
She explained: “I think Daphne very much conforms to this world. She’s about to make her debut on the marriage mart, and she’s all about finding a husband and being a perfect debutante.”

However, the Austen-inspired proceedings take a turn for the scandalous when Daphne and the Duke decide to fake an attachment to one another.
The star continued: “Simon’s very much against that all, he really rebels against that world.
“They form a pretend attachment, I hope I’m not giving too much away.”
Despite Dynevor’s initial caution, the British star couldn’t help dishing on the series’ juiciest moments, which only occur later in Bridgerton’s first season.
She went on: “They can be themselves around each other; they’re allowed to be themselves around each other and that’s what leads to them eventually falling in love even though they might not realise it.”
Her comments drew stunned reactions from Alex Jones and her co-host Amol Rajan, who hadn’t had a chance to finish the series yet.
Jones gasped loudly and exclaimed: “They fall in love! I’m only on episode three!”
However, she then conceded: “Mind you, that’s not surprising. I’ll be honest, that Duke? Well done.”

Simon Basset star Regé-Jean Page has already become one of Netflix’s biggest new heartthrobs, and the series quickly built a reputation for its steamy sex scenes.
Although the first season of the new series, based on Julia Quinn’s series of books, takes some surprising turns, most viewers could have guessed Daphne and the Duke end up falling for each other.
Noting the series’ more explicit sequences, Dynevor then admitted: “I had to watch it with the whole family so I could stand by with the remote so I could fast forward the naughty bits.
“So yeah, we watched it together, but I had to stand by at all times.”
Luckily, Dynevor kept her lips sealed about some of the more unpredictable twists that occur in the latter half of the first season.
Fans who have already finished Bridgerton’s debut will already know some major plot twists, such as the reveal of Lady Whistledown, have set things in motion for a thrilling second season.
Netflix have yet to confirm a Bridgerton follow-up is on the way, but the new drama quickly shot to the top of the streaming service’s list of most-watched shows over Christmas.
Bridgerton season 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
